~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here I am
What do you see?
Can you tell me
What do I know?
Will you guess
If I’m cruising on cursed
Or bordering on blessed?
Am I almost alive or becoming dead?
Falling ahead
While looking behind
Inside draconian dreams
And outlandish sights
Inside psalms of light
And poems that live
Do I take or will I give?
Tell me now
What do I know?
Starring in a version
Of a nonsensical show
With empty words
Disguised as scenes of hope
Or am I becoming
An injected dope
Withdrawing from my own veins
Penetrating my brains
Or can it be
I’m an abnormality
Of concentric thoughts
Jammed into a dialogue yet to be spoken?
Do I teach or will I learn
To find out what I can do
To find a way inside of you?
Let me know
What is it you see?
A poet, a dreamer, a salacious visionary?
A common man with an uncommon goal?
Or someone who's just on a simple roll
Inside a synapse so small yet large
Will my poetry transfer to heaven’s gate
While on its way to the garbage barge?
Dear Jude,
A poet, a dreamer, for it is the dreams which have made you an enlightened man. You teach and yet you learn, you take but also give. In your heart you already know, which of your poetry has been transferred to heaven's gate, and not any I would think to the garbage barge! A most thought provoking write, I ponder, especially with your last two lines, excellent food for thought Jude.
"A poet, a dreamer, a salacious visionary?"-- hard to choose, Sir Ace! Your reference to concentric thoughts makes me wonder if you have read any of Ken Wilber's stuff--especially his "A Theory of Everything" book???
As always, a pleasure to ride the barge with you-- garbage or no.
Peace, dear Poet!
I wonder is this about the narrator (N) or the state of poetry in global terms. Having read your work for sometime now, it seems you have a universal message for readers/writers/poets/artists in general art lovers, in this age...an age when nobody has time for others, an age which has brought up stars and starlets out of hype who keep manufacturing garbage...But then however, it seems equally effective for present state of poetry from philosophical perspective...Over the years philosophers and poets have come out of one another, they make separate entities...unlike Khalil Gibran/Rabindranath Tagore/Pablo Neruda, who were great philosophers besides being great poets, today we see poets who concentrate on poetry, on the very immediate life, they stay out of ether, mental vagueness...But then again, with the changing times duties of poets and philosophers change...
A powerful poem, poet!
To a gull, the garbage barge is heaven. All poets live in a realm of their own making. If, somehow, they transend to the political, they become laureate. If they transend to commercial, they might make money--no way, Jude. (Judaaa)
This poem reminds me vividly of the "mood" in which I wrote one titled "Acquaintance & Intimacy", some months ago, and reinstates the gradually, sometimes painfully matured awareness, that we never know everything, about ourselves or the others, our and their "expressions of impressions"… and it is probably when we stop wondering, asking, seeking to “know” further, that we cease to be “almost alive” and truly begin to die. The attempts to go on "discovering", like the one manifest in this masterful poem, are never potential volume to be added to any "garbage barge".
Robert,
We search until there is nothing else to search for. Yet...the search is endless.
I don't know where your poetry will transfer to..but certainly not the garbage barge. Besides..I have enough written garbage, to fill every landfill for all of us.
I enjoyed this look-see into your world Jude.
Am I almost alive or becoming dead?
Truly a mindset that we must all decide for ourselves. And this is truly a thought provoking piece, Jude.
supurb write Robert
Exit yourself, take a few steps backward
and see yourself ask
the question, where will the next verse
evolve from.
You keep it interesting, and you're a good poet too. That's all I'm permitted to say at this time. Just kidding. Is the muse turning you inside out these days, Jude? I know some of my stuff is garbage. Knew it when I posted it and had fun doing so, J. Joker. Sometimes, girls just wanna have fun. ~~Nordette
If your poetry were on that barge, the rest of us would be the gulls feasting on it.
We are all a bit of all of these things, I believe, Jude. They are the ying and the yang that is the essence of life itself. The enlightened question, others don't even know there is a difference. I am still scratching my head trying to figure it all out and how the yang relates to the ying in my life and how each represents itself. Lots to think about in this one. Nice work!
Take care,
Sherry
Being a part of the duality that we all are, you are everything you ask about both the good and bad. Some of your poetry has already gone through heavens gate, some will see the garbage barge, as with all of us lesser poets;-)Though you are more enlightened than most, and on a higher learning curve;-)Mostly, you are a gifted human being touched by divinity, instilled with a "dialogue yet to be spoken "
Eileen
With all the passionate verbosity I can muster, I can categorically say that you're... straight-up OK. And - oops, my lips have just missed your earlobes by a million miles... sorry about that... must've forgotten to trim me sails... Damn wind! :)) PS still not gettin line 8th from bottom... "Let know me know"? Is this a typo or am I bein especially dense... perhaps another sneaky oxymoron or Jude back-to-frontism that's beyond my loop... Catch you later; I'm just off to intercept a garbage barge and organise a swap of material. ...And that, I think, just about covers it from me! K xx
