~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched you pace the bedroom floor
In a restless trance
Guided by moonbeams
Cascading across the window of your face
You appeared to be seeking
A gesture of gentle inhales
To exhale from a heaven
Of mysterious desires
Like a kiss from shadowy lips
Like a poem lounging in the twilight
Of dissolving shapes
Longing to coalesce,
Your spirit rose like mist
Into the aether
You lay down on the bed
Intently staring into the darkness
Returning to sleep
Your eyes closed
With a glimmer of a smile
Illuminating the silhouette
Inside your whispered sighs
Your gown was gently rippling in the wind
Like a ballet queen dreaming delicate movements
Anticipating a stage of light
To enter across the midnight air
And suddenly you opened your eyes
A bit startled
Surprised I was gazing into your dreams
Wondering what I could be possibly thinking
An ending with palpable impact, Jude... a poem fit to be called a vision.
"the window of your face..."
This was followed up at the end and I gasped at your seemingly never-ending talent for bringing ethereal into words. I've often noticed, after reading you, that I need to regroup before moving on. You certainly absorb. katy xox
It can be a little unsettling when we wonder if another has entered into our private thoughts and our dreams. Some things are so personal, like those secret passions that touch us deeply; the ones that we believe we share only with ourselves. To awaken and wonder if someone has been able to tap into those thoughts can seem a bit invasive. In a way it feels like we just got caught with our hand in the cookie jar (so to speak-lol).
Take care,
Sherry
Jude,
Man I like reading your work. Such an ethereal presence guided by an earthbound soul. In each, a living, breathing slice of the mind.
I felt like I was drifting through the dream as you described it or at the least floating along the cloudy edges of it. This is a work of art and fitting a man of your poetic talent. Thank you for letting us peak into the heart of a truely romantic dreamer.
I have missed you poetry, Jude, this is wonderful. I like the way to tell the story -- there's always a twist at the end. I could clearly see her awakening. Thanks for sharing this gem.
What a poetic trapeze artist you are, Jude! Exhibiting such qualities of strength and grace through fluid movement that contains within it both poise and tension. Looks like any "forlorn thoughts" or "empty reflections" have soon given way to the mastery and mystery of expression here: this beautifully crafted write would be a magnificent ode to perfection, lost or found, in anyone's book. This has the serenity of the breath of angels - albeit with a slight change in register and tone in the final four lines (made me think of window-cleaners! :)). As to what the observer could possibly be thinking? Lines from Potent Sleep would be my guess! This seems a wonderfully harmonic companion to it. Intoxicating as Spanish Jerez, thank you! Kate xx
Possibly thinking of what she could possibly be dreaming... possibly, this mutual wonder is the most delicate of mind movements that meet, and long to coalesce. One of your most beautiful poems.
Robert,
This was not only gentle, but it stroked the inner most part of the soul.
To share a dream, is the infinity of life.
Beautiful.
Jude,
You capture what often goes unseen. This is stunning
and a pleasure to read, but this is your realm, your area
