Inside the Roar of Writing Words

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Strange what washes up onto the shores
Of creative design
Images and metaphors
Develop into the driftwood of language
Inspired musings translate across cellophane transparencies
Arriving onto the tide of sand of idea
Fragments of poetry
Dissolve into seas of solid soliloquy
And waves of drifting dreams
Traverse the whimsical whirlpool of words
And the lexis beyond the sun and moon
Expresses the imaginings of universal themes
And verses of light in expanding universes
Ripple across surfaces of novel utterances
Yet to be spoken
Inside the roar of writing words
Dear Jude,
You are indeed blessed for what does get washed onto the shores of creative design, as these are the inspirations for your eloquent writes, and all those "Yet to be spoken
Inside the roar of writing words" Another beautiful write Jude :)
I often write in a roar of words, but no one can bring the wind, stars, dreams and sea to their expression like thee.
Yup sure know the feeling of driftwood. Funny was gunna be the name of my next poem..
In Britian one is never more than 70 miles from the sea.
The metaphors can only be from a true sea lover..
I love the imagary but then seashores were always a fave place.
Noticed your comment on punctuation down the page. You're right, skips (ellipses)are a long pause. I hate to read these "experts" who insist that punctuation should be minimal (I quote: "semicolons are just pretentious" - no names here)Poetry was originally and is a performance art. Each poem is a dramatic monologue and punctuation marks are our stage directions. Minimal punctuation in the poem above tells me it is to be read as a train of desultory thoughts.
As the world spins, the forces of universal knowledge and thought seem to press upon us. With our creative spirit aroused, we absorb bits from it all and create pieces to fill the kilns with the pottery of life. Once completed we place our wares on display for hungry souls to feast upon. Though poetry can seem a bit less tangible, it still is the water that quenches a thirsty spirit. Excellent verses and some stellar lines. I really liked:
"And the waves of drifting dreams
Traverse the whimsical whirlpool of words" So very true this is, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
From the flotsam and jetsom of language you've crafted another bit of driftwood art.
Words are most powerful tool -
They are more powerful than the swords,
Lovelier than the most beautiful rose,
softer than the softest comforter, and
sometimes sadder than a teary frown.
Like a tingle down the back of the spine, the quietness of the voice in this is both instructive and hypnotic - like watching the movement of the sea itself. But the therefore delightful contradiction of the tone with the introduction of the notion of the "roar" is tantalising, energising and like a cold rush of blood to the head! This is a breath of poetry that soothes and excites at the same time - bursting with encouragement and inspiration. Makes me think of the creative voice of CS Lewis' Aslan. In the Big Top of poetry, you must be the Ringmaster, leaving some of us to play at jumping through hoops, just clowning around! And, just as I am saddened that me little Tarifan boat of poetry is breaking up on the shores of today, you remind me to shapeshift it's poetic cargo through working with it's flotsam and jetsam. And, as we recraft and remould, like the potter his clay, that is in addition to the endless NEW potential for creation that is infinite in the universe... on and on into the endless eddys and whirlpools you describe. GTG before I spin myself off into outa space! Enterprising write, Mr Spock! :)) K xx
Excellent use of imagery and extended metaphors in this poem...Essence of poetry, presence in poetry, absence in poetry, creation of a world of poetry....is all here! I liked the enjambment between last two couplets, and see goo0 reasons for strophe break...but at times (e.g. C 2 &3; C 4, 5 & 6) I don't see the point of view skip, may be I am missing something which poet may wish to clarify!
You do have a flair with words. You are their master and they be but servants to your Poet's Heart. You take them and use them skillfully and artistically and transform them into masterpieces that have vibrantcy and life, only because you choose to place them in a way, style, and manner that is yours alone. Bravo! Love, Leah
This is the kind of write that makes a poet want to curl up into the words and make them their own. It is so deeply satisfying to read
the splendid concoctions your brain comes up with Sir Jude.
Bob, Funny how language and words are a sort of driftwood, washed ashore after a storm, after picking up all sorts of inferences and patterns from wherever that driftwood started its journey...I like when you make inferences to my favorite place and speak, maybe not directly, of the ocean and such...this was worth reading several times and while I am not sure I interpretated it correctly, I still like it a great deal...keep searching those shores for more driftwood and flotsam deposited there by old mom ocean...Ed
