~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my dream,
I found myself in a community of poets
Living in the depths of a magnificent jungle
Where tame lions plucked fish from the water
And the birds sparkled with luminescence
And the rivers crystal clear
And the foliage a nest to dream upon
At night all the poets
Would gather around a hefty campfire
And recite what they had written
And share what they had gathered and learned
With no extraneous issues
Just a desire to inspire and teach
I felt so at home
Yet I knew I was dreaming
And that I was going to awake tomorrow
When the jungle had transformed
Into its poetic reality
Dear Jude,
I could swear I responded to this poem but for some reason my message was not posted up. I know that it provoked much thought the first time I read it. I once wrote an poem about perception and expressed that I believe that what you see is based on where you look. I hope that your dream (vision)is an example of this. It may seem Utopian and unachievable but the reality is that beautiful flowers do bloom out of the cracks of the ghetto pavement. You could miss them if you dont' look for them. Keep looking in the right direction. All things are possible. I still believe in the intrinsic good nature of man, all evidence to the contrary. As usual, a brilliant write!
Jude,
Only if Pink Floyd is playing in the background...just kiddin', though I do love Floyd, but that is another subject.
As for your poem, it would be a wonderful venture, though yes, eventually we would have to return to reality, but perhaps, after experiencing such peace we would be more inclined to promote it. It is the "poetic reality" that continually feeds the muse...there is so much in this world that needs elaboration.
Man, I'd never wake up. Unless you got to get back to the concrete jungle for new material.
I'd rather be with untamed lions. Minus the poets:)
Sounds like heaven to me. I could read this poem over and over because of it's desirable nature. Thanks for the beautiful dream.
You've switched from El Cardinal, then, Jude, as you stare into the campfire flames... this sounds like shades of Mathews' Southern Comfort to me and remininscences of Woodstock! :)) Can you believe, I live down the road from Glastonbury and have NEVER BEEN??!! Have always thought it too commercial, but now I'm beginning to regret it. Bob Dylan at Blackbushe, though; The Allmans the year before their tragic flight at Knebworth... nothing quite like the Mother of All Festivals, though... Oops, better go off and "gather and learn" before I just turn it all into something totally extraneous! Nice narrative with a lemon twist; inspirational and instructive, TY! K xx
Robert,
Not only is this an inspiring write, but an awe-inspiring dream. At first I thought you were talking about the Den, but then I realized this went so much deeper and further than that. It trails the universe and expands the dreams of all mankind.
This is poetry in reality, stretched to meet the need for the continuance of the life cycle.
This speaks to me Jude but when I read it a second time I had a true relaiztion. The place you describe so expressivey does exist...it is here amongst your fellow authours. Author's Den is that jungle just keep the fire burning.
We all wish for the day when the lion will lay down with the lamb and not think of dinner. It seems all of life is a food chain and those we cannot force to see things from our point of view, we have to destroy and consume. Perhaps one day, the poets will gather in the tamed jungle and lovingly appreciate and help one another. As for today, children are still taught to compete and to win. If only we taught them that it is in playing the game fairly, and in support of all others who play, that we truly win. This is a fantastic dream, Jude, one that forces the ages to hear the echo of cries for peace and understanding.
Take care,
Sherry
I have often had a vision of a home where travelerss go to share all creative ideas and images. Outside this home a woods is nearby that I often walk in. Perhaps this is the woods where you are sitting and I am meeting you? Like you; I know this vision is my reality.
I say we make our own reality. It's real if we want it to be, right? As for me, I'm glad to sit at your firesite every now and then. I learn a great deal. Dawn
I love this dream it is filled with the most auspicious ambiance!
What more exotic place to be than a tamed jungle and what better to be doing than reciting poetry around a fire with like-minded friends. That's what I call perfection...Awesome poem Jude!
