~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i.
The tide rises across the shore
Flooding yesterday’s footprints
As a fine mist
Covers my naked body
And I disappear from the memory
Of all remembered
As the tide returns
Back into the sea
Without a trace
ii.
Each lifetime has its own way
Of reappearing
While orbiting the sun
And returning
From where it arrived
To reemerge
Without a trace
Finding itself
Within it all
iii.
A dream takes form
Outside the psyche
Alive within the mortal frame
And lives out its fancy
Within the mind
Becoming real
Then dying
Without a trace
And yet arousing movement
Brilliant metaphor! The universe is the ultimate recycler. Constant motion in circles of time. And every thought or dream does become real and impact our worlds...
Robert, it is truly wonderful to see you have not lost your touch. This is wonderful...yet dangling in time. It is nice to read you again. P.s Congrats on your book...may you sell a million. Trish.
CSI would have trouble with that one! Seriously,if we stand on topsoil we are supported by the remains of millions of animals--even humans--who lived before--disappeared without a trace except the dirt on our shoes.
Interesting the way you use three stanzas to pull one theme together in three different ways. In the first stanza you talk about the temporary nature of humans, comparing it with the way a tide might wash away a sandcastle, while the second stanza gives more hope, hinting at reincarnation and spirits coming back to fly freely. Then the third stanza explores the secret, temporary life of our dreams.
Thanks for this enjoyable flight of fancy, Jude...
All the best, Sara.
This gem comes from within your very soul which is comfortable in the ebb and flow of the sea where you spend much time. It comforts me to know you have the waters of wisdom to inspire you,and it lifts my spirits to read your uncanny ability to convey your message of the continuity of ever evolving...
Great images emerge from your words. This a most thought provoking poem. It all continues -- one way or another. Great piece of work, Jude.
ah, once again you entertain my mind with the fiber of outstanding imagery ... it is as if i was the feather between the pages of your thoughts, touching the delicate space moving within you ... such has the effect of true ambiance ... - just like Freedom, I can't tell you how much I love this one. Everything about it is as easy as breathing, and, yes, who can tell the where from and to, comes/goes every inhaled/exhaled breath, but it gives us life and then... departs. Such gentle yet intimate collective mystery here; makes me wonder whether, in fact, we DO inhale others' dreams, like breath? Reminds me, too, of metaphysical growth and metamorphosis, and of how the nature of the attraction of dreams is their very elusiveness - how they "die" if understood and realised, like petals turning to ashes in your mind. Between this and Jay's Crash beach poem, I am totally swinging... funny, I was just working on notes for something based on Anne Sexton's (No!!!) Nude Swim yesterday... will have to ditch it now! No posting tonight, then! :)) This goes straight into my Jude top 5 and I especially like the departure from style for some reason; totally fitting. Absolutely MWAH! LOL Kondensed Kate xx
nice form on this one. I'm right there with the feel of life's tides moving in and then returning to the ocean of mystery where they began. Dawn
An excellent poem! All is within
us and allows us motion.
It's the loss of dreams that do
disappear without a trace and yet
arouse us. Much to ponder.
I love the imagery of that first paragraph, Bob (who knew?) except for the image of you naked on the beach...that I didn't need...LOL! Seems as though therein you have found Peace, Ed
You have managed to blend the surreal with the real in this deep and mind bending poem, Jude. The images that we carry with us often fade and reappear both in our dreams and in our reality.
Take care,
You have a way of using words to dig deeply into issues and ideas that most ponder and the reader comes away feeling refreshed and yet has even more to ponder...it is your gift...
So true is this one my friend, dreams like memories never go away completly and do interact with our daily lives. The mind creates, the soul ponders but the body reacts to both commands.
