~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The night air fills my lungs
With beauteous dreams
Connecting to distant stars
Reaching inside
The ocean mist
Covers my body
Touching my soul
With a gesture of light
Inhaling waves
As moonbeam frequencies
Listening to songs
Celestially embrace the air
Mysterious voices
Surround the horizon
Where inherited memories
Come alive upon the sand
The wind is my soul
And surrounds all I can capture
Inside water hands
Grasping for the liquid contours of life
I'll take another drink of spirit from those water hands, thank you. seriously, this immersed me in the most sublime feeling of peace and beautiful mystery, a deeper stream of purpose, a flow, the mist of tomorrow's promise. so, I'll just leave it at thanks. Dawn
thank you for this musical delight! I always feel music when I am near water. I do miss having easy access to the ocean's or one of the five great lakes.
Don't know about "grasping" - just leaves me gasping! This is like a dazzling sand-storm of many fragments that are swirling around in my mind: shades of Windy Light; bits of Night Falls; but mostly, I think this seems like a beautiful companion write to life's splendor - from the pristine, sharply-focussed perfection of the brand New Dawn to the expansivity of the fluid, all-embracing Dusk! Love the seamless merging here between all the elements and senses. "A metaphysical poet who would appear to speak from deep within himself and yet to project outwards as if to reach the farthest-flung recesses of the universe"! My last night's poem, whic I am only just gettin round to postin, was initially called "With His Hands"... seems that hands and water just go together in the collective consciousness today at The Den! This write lives and breathes the spirit of both harmony and discovery. Another beauty! TY Kate xx
Water, the second most critical element in sustaining human life, the first, of course, being air. Water washes through us, as do our thoughts and our lifetimes. Our souls become like water, unable to be retained, for any length of time, in one container. As we have recently been reminded, water can heal and it can kill, as can our thoughts and actions. In it's journey across land to the sea, it will find its own pathway, as will we. We can contain water for a time with dams and levees, but eventually the water wins; and we, too, will always reach our destiny. Without water we become brittle and dry as does the rest of the earth. Without fluid thought, our souls too, become brittle and dry. Excellent poetry, Jude. The comparative analysis between the flows of water, life and spirit pretty much equal the same end result.
Take care,
Sherry
Those illusive liquid contours appearing and disappearing in waves. Our minds can't contain them-like quicksilver it seems. But for breif moments the water reflects as a mirror into our conciousness. Grand write...Lin
What an amazing poem Jude. You seem to be showing us how futile it is to try to hold onto things. Water, not quite transparent, like air, yet still cannot be held. And yet, we are englufed by both. Fascinating poem. ~ Sara
