~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes I feel like a helium balloon
Detached from its owner
Riding high above the ocean
Lost then found by unfamiliar eyes
Floating down onto the ocean’s surface
Drifting upon blue waves
Where forceful currents bring me to a distant shore
Crashing upon a jetty
Battered but buoyant
Still maintaining bounce
Just keep that bounce going. As for Rita, she was a kitten here (see my report in my Events) and we are high and dry. You may get a bit of her today.
Your poem is the perfect definition of resilience and grace, Jude, may your life always be blessed with both. This is an excellent poem that had me floating on the air with your fantastic images; A perfect read for me today as our skies here in Albuquerque have been colored with hundreds of Hot Air Balloons for the last week or so in anticipation of the annual Albuquerque International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta which starts next Saturday, when 1000 balloons will take to the skies every morning. There must be a poem somewhere inside me mixed with all that excitement, don't you think? ;)
Take care,
Sherry
Oh this one will resonate in all, no doubt Jude! "Battered but buoyant...Still maintaining bounce", fantastic lines and great choice of metaphors! Arn't we all afloat out here, made of the same stuff but differant colors and textures-our only tie to gravity and each other a string that often is pulled by others who allthough well meaning, just don't get us at all? Each of us sees through their own lens and it colors interpretation. This is probably one example! Yes, there are currents that take us into unknown waters and we are helpless to stop from "crashing". Life takes us on many detours. Some frightening and heartbreaking. Brava for your stubborn independence and faith in yourself! (I'm very tired so I'm probably not making any sense(:
