Autumn color will return to my eyes:
Spirea, Anemone and Smoketree
will reveal the hidden brilliance of change
and award me with the mystery surrounding
The landscape of autonomous revelations
I will take the fire within these assorted leaves,
Allowing their spectrum to set into my palms
So I can feel the varied light
gaze upon my spirit;
painting visions found within life’s memory
Tomorrow will reveal once again
Such is the beauty I search for:
Found within the scattered hilltops-
Within the pristine psyche of nature’s dominion
inside the mind
Outside the world within
A great read. Felt like I was looking at a drawing by M. C. Escher and loving all the corridors down which each line guided my feelings and inner vision.
Autumn colours render serenity and true beauty to human kind. We should all take a moment to enjoy the beauty of the nature before it is taken away from us.
Ha...this is what I have been missing for the past few days. Not so much the memories, but the experience of the things that made the memories possible. Excellent poem. I'm looking forward to seeing autumn colors when I get to NY tomorrow. ~ Sara
To me, autumn is the most romantic of all seasons. She dresses everyting in her finest colors and sets them to dancing with her warm-to-crisp winds of change. Waves of fallen leaves roll like tides across the landscape; settling into their final places where they will sleep upon the seeds of promise, beneath the white velvet blanket of winter. It all turns my thoughts to the magic of nature and how perfectly everything fits together and how we can become the seasons if we allow ourselves to do so. Your poem is an absolute beauty, Jude, you words have placed me into that peaceful and romantic place where I feel a sense of unwinding and settling in with a joyful anticipation of all that is the season.
Take care,
Sherry

Watch out for the bears! But NY sure is stunning anytime of year.

Ah... meadow-sweet: my favourite! Call me Contrary Mary, but this gives me a more vernal zing - but perhaps I'm just twisting around the "tomorrow's memory" and "inside the mind outside the world within"-thing. For some strange reason, second stanza also makes me think of looking at blood teeming with life on a slide under a microscope - again, painting pictures of DNA and life... Aha! Got it - leaves' veins, init?! Glad I'm not totally barking - arf, arf. Watch out for all that autumn smoke gettin in your eyes - otherwise THEY'LL be red, too! :)) ... And, blimey!! Punctuation!! Classic beauty here, Jude, with a twist of the phantasmagorical - but of course. Quite a cocktail - or a mulled wine. Wild and warming, thank you. K xx
Autumn is my favorite season. What an ode you have offered it, Jude. Thank you for sharing this timely seasonal offering. Love and peace.
