Death Becomes Movement

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It doesn’t take much to kill a man
The sun rises over a desert
Emitting the impulses of solar flares
Over dusty skeletons
Left over from eons of silent decay
The moon settles over the sea
Casting its reflection
Over ghost ships
Drifting without a crew
Through the waves of an assiduous destiny
It doesn’t take much to upset momentum
When all is lost
Tides are forgotten to whims of movement
Dreams become perishable commodities
Flesh is dissolved by an empty trance
Gazing into membrane of a heart gone blind
Gladiators will fight until the death
Countries will vanish in molten waste
Seas will vaporize into an unknown vortex
It doesn’t take much for love to be strangled
To be asphyxiated by its own accord
Cast into a wellspring
Imbedded by bloody handprints
Grasping for the brim of enlightenment
Wondering how and when to ascend
It doesn’t much to admire
The dexterity of being reborn
There is so much expressed in your poetic offering that it is deserving of much more than one reading, Jude. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and peace to you.
The depth of this write goes beyond the words a reviewer can say when trying to express how it touches them. At least this is the way it has touched me.
"Flesh is dissolved by an empty trance Gazing into membrane of a heart gone blind" eugh!! Such a graphic description of society's malignancy/stillbirth and a superb link with your previous poem. So much movement and swirling ellipses here it quite takes my breath away - like some fast-moving trailer to a Hollywood Epic! Love the set-up of "death" in the first two stanzas, both retrospective and ongoing, then the volta of the tides line - which to me seems a key of the whole message: instead of letting natural currents take us and going with them, we lose all by panic and drown. I adore the sense of a universal struggle and heroism with the Gladiators verse, followed by the "bringing it home" personal about love. Blimey, more images of birth/death throes, the struggle and the battle to be born, which sets up the final line brilliantly (penultimate line needs a Take 2, Hon!). So graphic, so visual... all we need now is the sound! :)) Trojan, Jude! LOL an exhausted Kate xx PS Because of the title, had another squiz at Delicate Movements and freaked to find so many cross-refs with my Reborn poem last night! Couldn't believe it! A poetical helix for sure!
A conceptually intriguing, ideologically appealing, and stylistically dynamic write.
the subtelties here stir me and appropriately remind me of the fragility of all that to which we cling. it doesn't take much, Jude, for us to resurrect hope in the heart of another. thanks, Dawn
Another brilliant one, Jude. The last line is awesome. I see young people in perfect little families who have never experienced pain. Someday they will and someday they will grow.
For some reason unknown to me, but not unpracticed by me at times, man finds it necessary to be victorious over all that is beautiful and innocent. Once beauty meets the bitter soul of man, it is squashed, be it love, a gentle soul or life, no matter, to the victors go the spoils and we are left to wallow in the mire of our own distructive ways. We do each possess the power to turn it around and learn that beauty is best left undisturbed so that we may continue to enjoy it without requiring ownership of it to do so.
Take care,
Sherry
Imagery perfection. Would you believe me, if I told you, I almost wrote this same scenario yesterday? Then didn't. I guess so that I could leave it for you're expertise.
And you done an awesome job of it!
Jude, although life and love itself are very sacred and fragile, mankind continues to avoid treating it as such. I do find hope in the thought of rebirth though, and by holding on to the belief that good shall overcome evil, I am able to find solace. Outstanding work once again Poet. Thank you for sharing it. Take good care and be well.
Mount St. Helens comes to mind. The volcano ,upheaval of earths core
laying so much to waste man, mountain, and all in its environs,yet
coming back to life in all of its glory, being reborn. And so it goes. Splendid poetry Jude!
True, the world is full of conflict and has led us to the brink of annihilation. Conflict will never end as long as humankind is convinced that this is a world of conflict and any one who refuses to fight loses social status. Obey the laws of Nature in all of your movements and win; disobey and die losing. Let the opponents go where they want. You can try to turn back the stream, but you will have to use brute force to do it. It is easier to honor the power and momentum of the stream and lead it wherever you wish. There is no need to strain ourselves unduly. Thanks Jude.
