How nice to read about a union that transends time. And your poetic mind said it perfectly, Jude.

It's not often you bless us with rhyme. Just goes to show the enormity of your talents never cease, they just continue to overpower the rest.
Your Vow is beautiful, and touches the soul.
The vow is intrinsic in the souls and minds that have merged energies as one. It is so powerful, that it forms even in spite of those who simultaneously give and receive it, and then nothing can break it... and if it is seemingly interrupted at times, it will nonetheless be fulfilled again, within "skies touched with thoughts of truth", because it must.
Well expressed here, in a form of Poetry that is not very usual in you, but as excellent as ever.

The rhymes are beautiful in this piece Jude...you've expressed everyone's heart's desire. My list of those I want to 'catch up to' keeps growing every year. I hold onto the hope that we'll all be together again like a life preserver too. Thank you for writing such a lovely offering...Michelle
Holding my breath and waiting for my mind to catch up (as usual with your poetry!)... "The Vow" dances with light feet, but the deep truths which sustain its art transcend the movement and transport the reader to the heavenly realm of hope. This was just spiritually invigorating, Dawn
Lilting and lyrical, the most beautiful and delicate of poetic couplets, deceptively "straightforward"... but, obviously not, as the wheels are certainly turning beneath me here! Vows are fascinating things; they can be verbalised, internalised; to self, other or to deity. They can be formally binding or based on the potential fallibility of a solemn promise. Flesh and blood evolve, but what remains is the intention, the will: that to me is like the molten steel or lava that exists in the deep of one's inner core; it may go through many transitions and states, but remains intrinsically anchored in the embodiment of the person. It is that part of a psyche that endures, as part of the spirit life. Will is entirely free to make its own choices - that is the nature of what we have been given. Where lovers ARE soldered together at that deep level, in the freeness of the will that they have pledged or vowed to one another, I doubt whether it is ever possible for one to entirely "take one's leave" from that state of absolute togetherness. Perhaps I speak of the impossible here, of a love that is only achievable by receiving immortality into human constitution. Something that is Divine, in other words. Perhaps I just need to go eat lunch, having got out of the wrong side of Calvin's obsidian bed; or, maybe I just need to go BACK to bed and get some "zen eye" instead! :)) LOL Karma Kate xx Soz - a weighty response to a very balletic poem.
Absolutely gorgeous, Jude. This could easily be a poem for a wedding, you should consider sending it to some wedding planners, they keep things like this in a book and spot you a few bucks everytime it is used. There is such a spiritual bond with any vow, I think it is wonderful that you have included that into this excellent gem.
Take care,
Sherry
The mystic and the real have always been in debate. You have brought a good harmony between the two forces in "Vow". Which is mystical with elements and real with an obsidian bed.
Rich imagery and the zen of companion holiness. Life becomes truly one after insight has been awakened and a new relationship of youth is established. I don't believe in much that art and the afterlife can't explain. This piece, The Vow, has monk undertones. Without the "zen eye" I think it would be very hard to grasp the spirit of Jude's poem. This is the reality of our ideal world. We need believe in our original Buddha.
