Dream Scene (y) ... the Gazebo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my dream, I am walking through an enormous maze
Decorated with bushes, shrubbery
And an awesome arrangement of flowers and fountains
In the distance I see a giant gazebo:
Alongside its parameters are gothic-style birdcages
Hanging from ivy-clustered overlays
Where birds of every design
Are a chirping symphony of color and song
Not far ahead are pebbled walkways
Leading to the nucleus
Of this tantalizing dreamscape
Within all this beauty,
Within all these patterns of visual stimulus,
I see my shadow flickering on and off
Disfigured by the light
Filtering through trees
Swaying slowly to a gentle breeze
I have such an intense feeling of isolation
Walking through this labyrinth of invisible heartbeats
That never made it through the maze
That I almost feel disfigured by the light
Filtering through the treetops
From the gazebo, I can hear voices calling to one another
As if they’re trying to get a sense of where they are
They call each other’s names
But no one answers
I walk up to the gazebo
Climb the white wooden stairs
Reaching the platform, I see a beautiful fountain
I lean over and stare into my reflection
Where I see a assortment of faces
Shifting form and gender
Each one speaking only one word
Together forming a sentence
"Look to the dawn and see the expressions within you"
I awake,
Yet the morning still has time to arrive
A kaleidoscopic write that impacts on mirrored images of all the multivarious readers, Jude. I find it disturbing - the fact that the Voice and the Shadow are separated and yet experiencing independently the same disfigurement. And the beauty is both exhilarating and threatening. The sense of disembodiment throws me, too. It seems to me to suggest that wholeness and personal integration will only come as one takes hold of the multiplicity that constitutes the one being... and yet most of us settle for so much less and become "fractured" and lost along the way... whilst yet thinking that we are electing for an easy "satisfaction". Fulfillment of all personal potential perhaps depends on holding fast to that which is revealed and received in "dreams" but is worked out in the fabric of the "reality" of our everyday lives... until the "dream" goal is achieved. Fascinating and complex... also very challenging. TY Kate xx
What an assortment there is, all speaking one voice and yet alone and unique in their expression. Can't help thinking that those invisible heartbeats are souls which have left this earth, possibly still wandering between. The shadows stanza brings to mind astral travel. You climbed the peak( stairs to the gazebo)and reached a fountain. Water forms to whatever contains it and even it's reflection is changed by wind and light yet it flows on a singular mission. But a fountain recirculates water-maybe your soul through several lifetimes? Maybe a lesson that has yet to be learned? A gazebo is in the form of a circle-the human circle? Or perhaps you have come full circle to yourself and the wisdom which lies within, no longer seeking outward acceptence of the truth within you, accepting that although we are connected to each other each of us is ultimately alone? It's a fool's errand to try and interpret another's dream, as each dream is unique to the dreamer.
Still I have a compulsion to write impressions. This is a subject that fascinates me as does this dream write...Lin
The image of the Gothic-style bird cages insinuate a soul flight back in time. Perhaps it is a griffin/griffon/gryphon walking the labyrinth, combining a lion's body with the head, breast, wings, and claws of an eagle. The griffin and Chimera were symbolic rulers of earth and air respectively. To the Hebrews, the griffin represented Persia with its dualistic religion of Zoroastrianism. It was a Graeco-Roman emblem of the solar God Apollo, as well as being associated with Athene, the Goddess of Wisdom. The hybrids are guardian figures, especially in Minoan Crete, where it represented vigilant courage. The ancient Greeks believed the griffin guarded the hoardes of gold in Scythia and India. Some of them didn't make it out of the labyrinth. You have a duality nature about you, Jude, and it carries back a long ways in the ancient days. The gazebo is where it is collectively calling you. This could involve a meditation into shapeshifting.
Ahhh the different faces of who we are and from where we come; each with a word of wisdom that utlimately will produce the poetry and reveal the goals of our lifetimes. "Look to the dawn and see the expressions within you." Yet another clue in the mystery (maze) that is your path for this current journey. Is it any wonder that the maze should be so intricate when we realize all that we must step around in these most interesting of times to stay within the focus of our destiny? Colorful images, make your dream vivid for the reader. Exceptional writing, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
Beautiful dream. Your descriptive powers are excellent. The ending was kind of eerie but fascinating, in a way. Very well written.
That is so beautiful
I've been drawing labrynths since I was a child, not even realizing I left arrows and such in the mazes, marking a map throughout my existence
Dear Jude,
You never fail to amaze me with the intensity in which you convery your dreams. I could almost reach out and touch... hear the symphony and colour of song of chirping birds. Evoking distant thoughts almost forgotten. The morning has yet to arrive, allowing you time to gather your thoughts...
warm hugs across the miles
So much meaning here, for you, a Searcher after Truth...slightly reminiscent of life, of the illusions that draw us away from the goal, of the shadow selves that we become, when dealing with the world as is, and of the mirror, finally, that reveals the diamond beneath the coal. Scintillating.
Our dreams are messages to us, that all we have to do is recognize our own expressions. Karla said it best, Robert.... you're an ace! It's always great to read such perfection.....
a man who makes many journeys, Jude, and one who dares to face the dawn and find unexpected glimpses of what he has yet to become. that's the sense I get of this, which may be, of course, completely off from your intent. whichever among us makes it to the fountain will free the lost community and a world will be born anew. love the painterly colors and scenes. take care, Dawn
OOO this could have many meanings. But it is a most enjoyable read.
And gazebo, kinda like a bandstand.. This has a strong romantic and graceful feel, but with the haunting feel of Odysseus.
