~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hunting for a place to rest my heart
Where uncut paths open up
To a deeper terrain of light and motion
Where enduring moments of sanity
Filter through your eyes and your voice
And speak from within your body movements
And signal a way to forage ahead
Through the mysterious blueprint of your character
A place
Where I never need to be concerned with superficial sensibilities
Or hidden agendas
Or outbursts of denial and betrayal
Or quirks of doubt
Or pats on the back
Or motions of prominence
Or the expectation of productive goals
A place
Where I don’t have to listen
To rehearsed recitals of solar status
Or charmed provisos on the unavoidable joust
Merging from the experience of growing
Into the heat and color rising from within your aura
I pursue only the unconditional
A heart hunter
Who only seeks
To become the prey of your intrinsic nature
And the self-sacrificing trophy of your design
Is this true? If so, where have you been all my life? ;-)
Seriously, I don't know how I missed commenting on this poem, Jude. I'm pretty sure I've read it and so must've been sidetracked because it's one of my favorites. ~~Nordette
'Unconditional' exists in our choices. I choose to offer that kind of love but if I expect it in return, I'm only adding a condition. Therein lies the conundrum.
Great write Jude!
We'll be in the hunt all our lives. Very special write. "To become the prey of your intrinsic nature/And the self-sacrificing trophy of your design." You seek what you possess--a heart of gold...
so there's more to find - light in the jungle, a peace-filled oasis of being? I'm afraid I've tired of the hunt for that other, though it seems worthwhile to delve deeper into the mysteries of our own hearts and clear out the hidden agendas hiding in the bush. like many of yours, Jude, this poem gets me thinking. Unconditional. It exists. Sometimes though, not simultaneously between two people. Love this poem. It is so pure. ~ Sara
... Are there REALLY so few optimists on this page today??!! Think I can spot morbid and masochistic at the moment, and have to say that sounds more like my stuff than this sheer wild, jungular (?? "of de jungle"!) beauty that you are cutting a trail through for us here, Jude. Now this sounds like my kinda safari... in fact, I might go as far as to say that the hopeful energy I find to be in this write creates a very vivid rainforest backcloth with all its heat and humidity... a spawning ground of vibrant life (... reminds me of a Venezuelan write I need to dig out...) This is so Utopian... and how can it not be if you can imagine the most fecund emotional jungle that is allowed to exist in perpetuity because of the vulnerability with which the Hunter approaches his Prize - not to capture it but to cherish it? And if the Prized Heart is guileless and comes with "no strings attached", then is the licence to personal freedom mutual as well as being shared. Blessed is the Hunter who has no need of a gun and the Heart that has no need of self-defence... and gotta love Sage's Cat's Tale!! :)) BTW, Paul Kossoff and FREE's "The Hunter" is an old fav track of mine! So spose I will be feeling Alright Now... but careful with that machete.... LOL K xx
Sounds a bit morbid AND masochistic. I know that feeling, however, it is called becoming tired, very weary of the "game." Good.
Imagine a union with the one you love, in which each of you can be whoever you desire. Now consider the reality of most relationships. How does it get mucked up and dependency sneaks into the works?
The people who seem to get the most approval in life are those who never seek it out. Here is a little fable applicable to Heart Hunter. A big cat saw a little cat chasing its tail and asked, "Why are you chasing your tail?" Said the kitten, "I have learned that the best thing for a cat is happiness, and the happiness is my tail, therefore I am chasing it, and when I catch it, I shall have happiness." Said the old cat, "My son, I too, have paid attention to the problems of the universe. But I have noticed whenever I chase after it, it keeps running away from me, and when I go about my business, it just seems to come after me wherever I go." By being in touch with your own heart and using positive self-image as a consultant, more approval will come to Heart Hunter. Keen poem, Jude.
Well, honey, I'm glad you don't expect too much. lol An incredible passionate poem, that I could barely handle. I wish more people knew themselves honestly and were more able to be a great mate. Can't stand people that expect me to fullfill their needs for reassurance and stand on their heads for attention. And expect you to admire it. lol GREAT poem! Blue
