~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She emerged through the subterranean interface
Of collective dreams
Salaciously disguised as a voluptuous
Symbol of the female form
Sparkling with lace and black satin
Adorned with gold necklaces and diamond broaches
Six inch heels and purple lipstick
She slid up a long staircase
Climbed across the mirrored ceiling
And slowly descended
Over and onto me
As I lay silent in my bed
Her dress magically vanishing
Revealing the contours of her desires
I was mesmerized by the fire in her eyes
And her flesh was glowing
Like an amorous amber
Hissing in the cool night air
As I slowly slid into her heated juices
She began to moan in foreign tongues
Her eyes now sizzling red
Her lips bright teal green
Distorted by her mumblings
I found myself surrounded by flames
Fleeting glimpses of mysterious landscapes
Feverishly flowed through my thoughts
There were strange creatures
Dancing in the moonlight
There were globules of blood
Flowing through holes in my hands
As I began to enter a cave covered with spiders
Suddenly I could hear a voice calling to me
Through the density of all this madness
It was soothing, vivacious and full of strength
Beckoning me closer
Closer to the light
And as I turned I found myself sitting in the plume of a garden
My hands releasing petals into the air
Fading away
Miraculously
Into the river of night
Close parallel here with a virgin bride's wedding night in vampiric taste. These three lines are metaphoric.
"There were globules of blood
Flowing through holes in my hands
As I began to enter a cave covered with spiders"
Perhaps you were working in an ancient canefield when she spotted you, then again, it is possible that the erotic dream is some kind of sexual mania!
A succubus, now that'll bring the vamps out! Even when she slid upstairs the images were readable. Funny how the mind fills in.
... Dearie me... bin on the cheese agin too close to bedtime??!! You've been incu(bus)-batin the succubus and she reminds me of a hybrid between a Black Widow Spider and Grace Slick... scary lady!! :(( Also GS's song "White Rabbit" sung in her gothic tones... Curiouser and curiouser, Alice... When I wrote Today's Magic last night, I realised I was lifting lines straight out of a poem I wrote at Christmas and never posted - "plumes" is a word that I used in that, too, and I thought "I must post this as a follow on tomorrow"... But now I won't. Well, this is a typical Kate digression, but just goes to highlight the mysteries of the "collective consciousness" that so many of us are aware of here. Like also the - dare I say it?! - petals and blood thing... a powerful image that I recall being expressed similarly in another poem on the Den recently: it must be a very potent psychic thought... Yep, I guess that The Light will always convert Styxs into Rivers of Life and beauty. Enjoyed this light/dark tussle and the icons of Christ and Antichrist.... so where was all that cake hiding??!!! C'mon... pass it round... nothin I like better than a party!! :)) Happy Easter, Pilgrim! Keep on with that onward and upward Progression!! LOL Kreepy Kate xx
Dear Jude,
It's quite incredible how dreams can be so colourful, imagery so intense and sometimes so frightening. We, when in "control" can steer and move towards a calmer and more serene setting, the only requirement is the desire to do so. Temptation to lead one astray comes in many guises, shapes or forms, and it is for us to learn, understand and have the ability and courage of our convictions to turn away and in so doing, find peace and tranquility within ourselves. I have rambled on… only my understanding of this exceptionally well written poem. Thank you for sharing Jude.
Take care and do look after yourself.
Warm hugs and love
Elga
Boy when you dream you certainly do it in colour, this is wild and fanciful but still a little frightening as you plunge into the realm of the succubus and her landscape. Well done my good friend, enjoyed this one.
Robert,
Good grief, what a dream! Starts of dreamy, then descends into a nightmare, and then ends on a shining note of hope. Leaves quite an afterimage...very vividly described. BRAVO!
