Another Mother's Son (repost)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All night long she tossed and turned
Sweating with fever
Imaginings filling her mind with despair
Nightmares penetrated
Her heart with doom
Her life ceased to have purpose
That morning she received the news
She always feared
Her son was killed in a car bomb
Gone in a distant instant
Yet his soul still lived
In the womb from which he was born
Her good friend had spent the day with her
Trying to console her storm of lost dreams
But she was missing in a barren desert of anguish and denial
When her friend returned home
She hugged her son
And went to sleep
And when she awoke in the morning
Her son already left for work
His lingering aroma still permeating his room
For this mother it was the scent of life
Yet she felt the longing for another mother’s son
Jude,
As a military mom I can tell you I am deeply moved by your poem and that the scent of a son is so very, very powerful under the circumstances you've written about.
Many blessings,
~jeanne
You have mastered a most emotional and touching write in a brilliant way. A mother's longing for her child can never be stilled.
...bless you, Jude. Here it is again, one of your most dominant strengths in your writing: you are the possessor of the great Gift, of spiritually climbing into another's heart, then looking out upon the reader, while relating the other's one's truth. Awesome!
Tis a fact of life, that Women most often grieve for and with other women who have lost Son's or daughers. Men experience this as well, though they may not outwardly show it.
Two little twin toddlers fell into a rainwater tank here in our State last week and drowned, they were two years old. A tragedy. I watched as the parents were shown on TV emerging from the church behind a casket, that they were both placed in together. Words fail to describe the anquish I felt for the parents!
I think that your write expresses that self same emotion in words, a woman would use tears for, and it clearly demonstrates the depth of your soul.
Very special write and one so easy to relate to in this crazy terrorist world of hate and anger we live in, it is the mother's and fathers that pay the highest price.
Thankfully, even in the death of a loved one, there are the life giving seeds of fond memory and the hope of once again being united.
Womb-knowledge is strong and sure, and its protective and nurturing instincts unquenchable. Earth's future needs to be in the hands of the creative sowers rather than the devastating reapers who devour everything without even leaving seed to propagate. Gets more Italiano with every reading and this is where the rubber hits the road - when the graffiti on the walls of the backstreets in Noo Joisey is daubed with the fresh blood from killing fields elsewhere, and the woeful moans of the matriarch on the 13th floor echo Rachel's biblical weeping in Ramah. We are every Mother and every Son. Good repost, Jude. TY Kate xx
Heartbreaking and touching, you cut a huge slice from life and serve it up to all who know the scent of family and cannot begin to imagine how starved for their love we would be if they were taken from us. Excellent!!
Take care,
Sherry
