A Tale ... Beyond Human Hands

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just as if truth
Was a declaration of faith
Designed for your own special needs,
You deemed it possible
To become more than a roaring whisper
Within the dreams of mankind
Accepting you had much to learn
And even more to remember
One day while walking through a museum
You caught the eye of an odd little fellow
Watching you in the reflection of an exhibit
Appearing distorted though the rippling gleam of a fountain
He approached and introduced himself
As a fellow “tourist”
And daringly suggested
You could revisit the time
When you were not touched
By human hands
When your original complexion
Had yet been altered
By the design of collective thought
You were taken back
But very very interested
At the time, you were unaware
This invitation was conveyed
By a man of outstanding credentials
An “underground” scientist
Who was something of a psychic
And a wise master of cosmological endeavor
Harnessing eons of didactic data
Surpassing all new age technicians
He was the one following you
Through many of your life’s hallways and corridors
A warm yet elusive shadow
Always surrounding you
But never quite there
He proposed transforming the genetic structure
Of your spiritual temperament
By rearranging
The skeletal framework of your thoughts
With alchemical mixtures
And electro-magnetic stimulation
At first, he was a little skeptical
You would accept his offer
Since there was an imminent danger in advancing
The scenery of death
So the living can absorb its structure
There was always a chance of not returning
To whom you were once believed yourself to be
(And perhaps that wasn’t such a bad thing)
And most of all, could your body/spirit
Be able to restructure the heavenly helix?
He mentioned, “Become more than a roaring whisper
Within the voice of human dreams”
Upon hearing this declaration
You totally agreed to this exceptionally enticing enterprise
You were convinced
He had the technological skill
And knowledge to achieve this undertaking
Over the next few weeks
You both grew to trust each other
So after much preparation
You stretched your body out
On a table
For a moment almost feeling like Frankenstein’s anti-monster
Would you be capable
To survive being touched
Beyond human hands
While still being held within them?
Only time will tell
When time no longer matters
'he was the one following you through many of your life's hallwaaays and corridors
A warm and elusive shadow always sorrounding you, but never quite there'...this is actually what happens when we are obssessed with someone. It has reminded me of the time I mate my girlfriend, especially weeks after. Were friends by then, but the quote was the feeling.
This exposes most "speculative poetry" for the sham pieces they are.
Mesmorized from beginning to end, Jude. This has an "Outer Limits" feel, a dream that becomes more real than outer reality but skates on the rim of conciousness or collective memory as a familiar prick of the blades like that "illusive shadow" just out of sight. Begs for another reading and rumination of personal interpretation as those little hairs are standing up on my neck. With respect...
Ace,
In my humble opinion, this poem is one of your best expressions of your inward self. Congratulations on such an amazing and insightful work!
Brings to mind the peculiar effect that old Sphinx had on me last year during my visit to The British Museum... and, in conjunction with that, your poem Palette of Desires! :)) Museums tend to have that mystical and metaphysical quality of spacing me out, such that the reaches of past, present and future and the depth and scope of the meaning of life are all held in curious countertensions. In a way, I can wholly relate to this fabled scenario as not so fantastical... opening oneself up to being inhabited by the Spirit of God is pretty much similar, I would think. And for those for whom life is primarily "spiritual", the material and fleshly are of less consideration than the bigger picture which, the thinner the veil of the flesh and mind is, the larger and more real the metaphysical canvas revealed. Unlike this review, your Tale is a very concrete foray into these types of experience and planes of existance, and, yes, I daresay God is pretty much an odd little fellow in one of His guises! :)) OK, I'm back on that intergalactic highway Number 42 with my thumb out... A well-constructed and controlled piece. TY Kate xx
Jude,
It's not often that one can capture the imagination of others with so few words...yet you seem to do it effortlessly. If only your subconscience was a museum I could visit. What wonders to be seen....
Oh this one is your best. The story line is exotic and speaks of the mystery of love and, although this seems to be unbelievable to some, I know it to be real. Life developes into interesting paths and every crossroads becomes a mystery of "what if I'd taken the other road?" New adventures welcomes mystery doesn't it?
A scientific and cerebral dissection of the protaganist in your mind and soul..
I feel the object of attention is a she, who is no longer walking the path of self discovery, and has become entangled within the classical mess that distorts the originality and spontaneity of the individual...
Super appraisal of a lost soul...
This is the dream you had
many years ago come to life
I was electrified when I read
"When your original complexion
Had yet been altered
By the design of collective thought "
In 2002 at about the time you wrote
planet bouncing, you had told me this.
Do you recall saying that in the future
you would be visited by someone, that
"an evolving species is growing inside me
so i can leave this thrid global alter maybe
in this lifetime.?"
It sounds like you have finally reached that
place:
"How do I explain this extraordinary condition
Being both warrior and priest?
Ordained by powers both familiar and distant
Begotten from galactic dust and celestial blood
Oozing from a heart of alien sensation"
"Accepting you had much to learn
And even more to remember "
I think you have been touched beyond human hands!
This vision is apocalyptic, not only to the human psyche, but also to those who desire to transmorgify their benign shallow contemplations and sedentary mind cycles associated with staid humanness.
Should we reach up to, or, over to, or trust, something corporeal, or something divine?
Are the two mutually beneficial, hopelessly entwined, or are they disparate?
What makes us trust one another?
Your line:
"One day while walking through a museum," seems to indicate an infatuation with the past while your line: "could your body spirit be able to restructure the heavenly helix" being a spiral or coil connecting the two, betrays your desire for something as yet unachievable with your own frustrating physical limitations.
Real experience vs envisioning can create chaos, or confusion, at times, in our expressions of them.
Was this pondering artificially enhanced, or have you been reading Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse?
Thankyou for a debilitating moment of embarrasing self-consciousness.
Respectfully
Richard
I knew and associated with this guy once...though he was beautiful and not "an odd little fellow" at all. He could lift my spirit into other dimensions and make me feel free within as well as outside of my body. He was intense to say the very least, but he was intense from a place that made me want to soar with him, from a place that allowed me to trust him...to allow my spirit to run free among the ethers and to molecularly separate and allow his soul to blend with mine...and all this without drugs...can you believe it??? LOL!! In the end, I realized that I had work to do here on the physical plane of the earth and had to separate myself from him, but what an amazing experience it was to allow him to expand my spirit beyond anything that I could have ever imagined. I love this offering Jude, firstly because it is a well mastered write, but secondly because it allowed me to, if only for a moment, open those gates to that spiritual dimension where the soul knows total freedom and love and relive that amazing experience.
Take care,
Sherry
