~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Color was your voice
And substance erupted from your soul
Now, as the wind encircles me,
Only emptiness weeps inside your heart
All I can do is watch from a distance,
Pushed about by time and circumstance
Alone to decipher fallout
There were tales of unexplored worlds
And passion filling the sky
With dreams of novel endeavor
Now, there is a desert in the folds of your mind
The oasis is dry
Only a mirage of hope
Decays the abundant silence
Only a rainbow broken in half remains
With a well-rounded capacity for being able to see all potential - past, present and future - your mind can weave and meld all strands of thought (ranging between the real and tangible through to the imagined and intangible) in the most amazing ways, seeming to hold the tension between each and every one of them. I, for one, am never too sure which tense or timeframe you are speaking into because your temporal seems to stand outside of time itself sometimes. Not too sure why I am talkin like this, but it's just the feel I'm gettin here. Rainbows are an eternal sign and symbol of hope and peace that can never be revoked or withdrawn, so it is interesting that this one is broken in half and out of place in an arid desert, its perennial bridging effect broken. Sounds like your worst nightmare to me... perhaps you're in need of a Dreamcatcher! :)) Anyways, hopefully this was yesterday rather than today or tomorrow, so perhaps, by now, that severed rainbow fallen to ground will have flooded the parched plain that caused its uncharacteristic fracture. In my current frame of mind, this reminds me of Coelho's Alchemist in Northern Africa... the pages are all falling out of my book! K xx
Enjoyed the emotional profundity and metaphysical poignancy of these lines. The imagery gives glittering substance to the dissolution of a rare and intense kind of intimacy. Gorgeous work.
Very effective. It seemed to resonate (to me) with things unsaid, yet still carries with it a very real sense of loss. Great write.
Poised, balanced ... a disposition of the psyche ... the End of a Rainbow is the beginning of the kaleidoscope starburst of stellar blueprint design. A poem of new Creation!
Jude, your mind is so expressive and is a painted canvas. You have this powerful ability to bring the reader deep within the soul..
What can I say beyond echoing what has been said already. So I echo and trust that a broken rainbow is only a mirage. Peace, hope, and blessings. <Mikii>
so very sad when that happens and even harder to be the one to witness it and not be able to be of help.
Oh My this one made me feel like you took a look at my soul!!
The end of the rainbow can be a dull place to wander...I think I know it well...returning to a living HELL!!
Wish that small plane gave out tickets for free....and I would fly away instandly!!
Your words are facets of wayward color that incompletes a rainbow severed from living.
I know this. life is complex and, whether the rainbow was real and lost for whatever reason or an illusion, we honor the experience and the great learning of the broken rainbow when we write it. that's my take on it. though I personally know how hard it is to do so, I wish for you a new rainbow and a path toward joy, wherever that may lead. A time of arid thoughts, where the pot of gold at the end is elusive..
Like Calif, one needs to water the desert for life to be sustained...
My rainbow is black and white...
Some years ago
my rainbow was filled with colors
I rode in its cradle and surfed
but somewhere along the line
I fell out of the cradle
into the abyss
My rainbow now is
black and white.
