Unanswered Prayers?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You whisper
You’re looking for a savior
To flow from a river of light
Across the desert of your darkened dreams
You say you’re living
A tempestuous existence
Where nothing appears as it seems
That you need to be saved
Before you just disappear …
As I touch your face
My fingers gently stroll
Across you cheek
I mention,
“Love
Is without reason
It is a fountain without a source”
And for the moment
Your lips pause
From releasing a kiss
Eyes peer deeply into mine
Then a smile
And your tongue
Slides across my lips
You whisper
“My prayers have been answered”
I sigh,
"I am not nearly a god
But I am here for you”
Powerful, honest write!
So refreshingly human ...(potentially godman; as are we all)!
A profoundly insightlful write on the limitations of what human beings can or should expect of one another in our treasured intimacies. These lines for me reveal with brilliant emotional and spiritual honesty and clarity that "objects of desire" are in fact not simply objects but living souls with their own attendant shortcomings and capacities. Enjoyed the read tremendously.
works well on two levels - the simple conveying of a starry-eyed girl's search for salvation in a man she would make a god - and then there's the deeper questions about how it is we all make such errors in judgment and perhaps have not the wisdom of this poem's narrator to steer clear of the temptation to gladly step into the role of substitute God for another. God only knows (or do you, Jude??? :)) really enjoyed, Dawn
Powerfully moving, Jude. This is one of those poems that makes the reader step back and question the duality of life. She sets her mind upon God to make her world perfect but then decides that a mortal will do just as well. Could it be that she just needs someone/anyone so that she doesn't have to rely on herself? The relationship is doomed if that is the case. No one can be everything for anyone, that is a fact and no one can make us happy, happiness is something we must learn to give to ourself. There are some really excellent lines in this poem; it is an exceptional offering.
Take care,
Sherry
A very subtle and sassy write that tantalizes the senses and questions
our raison de tres for existence..
The search for God can very ofen lead us to the most surprising and unexpected things..
In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
