Bricks of being
Beside a road to revelation

Bricks of energy and bricks of emotion
Transforming the landscape
Of character and temperament

What image will be built?
What foundation will be erected?
What model will be assembled?

Perhaps the construct and blueprint
Of life yet determined

Perhaps the design of daily dreams
And the visions of nightly slumber

Bricks of being
Porous and flexible
Transparent yet strong

Bricks handled by fingers
Bricks moved by the mind

Bricks of poetic structure
Forming the patterns of creative design

Everyday is an opportunity to reconstruct our lives and it is never too late to find who we are and how we fit into the big picture. Introspection and meditation often opens doors to panoramas of our soul that we have never imagined or been aware of. Excellent poeming, Jude. Strong, good tangible images presented to stir the mind into the untangible areas that can reshape our being.
Take care,
Sherry

"Bricks handled by fingers Bricks moved by the mind... Alas, bricks of poetic structure Forming the patterns of creative design"... I am really rockin along with Sage here... the most enduring structures, physical or metaphysical, are hardwrought and established through all the component parts dovetailing naturally together, rather than being of a man-made assimilated or simulated construct. There has to be a natural cohesion, rather than a false "gluing". The walls of which Sage speaks would need no binding - the pieces would stay locked through their own "togetherness" and countertensions. I like that thought! Yet again, you would show us by your words, perhaps, that it is the inspirational that is the foundational stone, the cornerstone by which all else of worth lives, grows and comes into being. If I were a mason on the wall of this poem, I would toil and sweat with the bricks of it and maybe chuck out that word "Alas" as being a misfit... but then, I am not the Author of the Blueprint of it, am I?! :)) No wonder your page is a Cornerstone here at AD, Jude; not only for the work itself, but also for the breath of life it imparts to animate the creativity of your readers. Neat job, el senor dibujante! :)) Kate xx

Hopefully. if, or when, the structure is completed, it will be a lasting one, impervious to the ravages of time, and opinion, and trend, and style, and the far reaching tendrils of the cartels.

poetry like rainbow specks of sand on a vast beach. The difference in appearance draws you to in investigate, you pick it up and gaze at it, appreciating the differences, you savor the moment, and then cast it down and move forward.

What's permanent anymore?

Rock the house Jude!

Robert,
I've never once stood beneath your structure of poetry, and wondered whether by the end, it would all come down upon me. Your writes are solid and timeless.
Through the years I've enjoyed them all.

Brick by brick is the only way to erect something substantial, much like the bricks of your poetry, Jude.

Jude, I read this and thought of bricks in nature, building blocks of family and community. . . each forming a pattern like none other. . . no copycats, just as individual as our fingerprints pressed into clay, which is the earth from which we were all formed and where we all someday shall return.

Mesmerizing. . . . thank you.

love the metaphor, if i had a brick right now though,uh oh;-)kidding aside...this reminded me of a show I saw recently about the mayan builders on pbs.how they made the bricks and the amazing work they did building their cities. Fascinating. Your creative mind built a fine poem out of bricks...

"Perhaps the design of daily dreams
And the visions of nightly slumber" ...great summation in these lines. Alot of different composites that make up the bricks you lay out here. My favorites are "Transparent yet strong". A thoughtful metaphoric work. I enjoyed this

Strong communities have flourished ten thousand years ago on the upper Euphrates River. Pride Walls in Bricks of Being ring out the ancient epic of Gilamesh, one of the world's finest poems set down in writing. Gilamesh, the king, lord of wisdom...ordered built the walls of Uruk...the walls of holy Eanna, stainless sanctuary. Ascend the walls of Uruk, it is not oven-fired brick, it is weather-proofed fired brick, mud was there for the taking. And as Mayan stonemasonry, it well resembles the strong characters of those people. One can imagine the amount of work it took to get them to interlock and not just the bricks...it becomes clear how many people and how much suffering must have been involved carrying over the blueprint of genetic structure today...irregular shapes, dust from pounding, checking the fit, and sharpening the eye for a good match of surfaces, trial and error. You've built a poetic shrine with your bricks of being, Jude. You have a stronghold fortified with a twenty-ton terrace...

I've often wondered where your ideas come from but I think that anything could provide inspiration for you. You have the kind of mind that easily constructs great structures starting off with the mere 'brick' of a single thought. I am impressed as always.
