~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I never look for outrageous things
They have a knack for finding me
Even in the contours of a sand dune, wakeful
In the motion of sunlight
Rearranging random clouds, focused on
Protecting my skin
From the searing conclusions of perspective
I agree on nothing
Until every impossibility is relinquished
And the cool stillness of twilight titivates my flesh
Even as tides shift direction
Requesting the moon to surrender its influence
And I am in the netherworld of taking chances
Trying to recognize
The moment when galactic waves crest under my surfboard
As the world
Rams improprieties down my throat
And I have no choice but to react
To avoid choking on the fallout of drowning
I always take the time to gather footprints
Spread about the sands
Of mystifying shores
For they lead me into unknown directions
Disappearing into the depths of the sea
Or rising into the space of my dreams
Exerting perplexities
Encircling creative endurance
Resistance expressed, even while on the next wave riding along. A rhythm that pulls along, of give and take and back again.
F a s c i n a t i n g, "I agree on nothing/Until every impossibility is relinquished" resonates in a way that is hard to explain -- it is as if you pulled the line out of my subconscious. And I love
...the world/Rams improprieties down my throat," both for the
meaning and for the sounds. Love the way ram and random feed into each other. Ditto improprieties and twilight. Made me think, to
boot! <3 Pea <3
Estrella has totally got it, in't she? The motion thing, I mean. You make the rest of us seem rooted with feet of clay, in the slow motion of the dullness of our thoughts - even though we may aspire to reach for the stars. But your thought processes and evaluation mechanisms thrive on the kinetic energies of possibility. You negate improbability and work the nth degree chink of potential with every image and concept you employ. Every word in your lexicon seems to be a figure that exists in 3-D and in a matrix of algebraic form that, like some Da Vinci Code, can only be understood in the light of the particular application that is being used at that moment in time. Like the language of clouds itself. You are a magnet for outrageous philosophical and metaphysical thought, Senor. And it seems that you hereby confess yourself to be in a permanent state of disagreement with the rest of the thinking world that pursues answers based on the possiblity of reason. This makes me think of the disturbance that is thrown up with the turning of tides, or where the waters meet that run in different directions... the chaos and maelstrom of waters that eddy and flow. Such is the environment that your not inconsiderable mental powers thrive in and, although you are only too aware of all the conflicting "voices" that seek to be heard, you have the capacity to focus-down onto that one still, small voice that deserves to be heeded. It is the one voice that perplexes, because it is not readily perceived or understood with the rational mind, but treading water with it and developing muscle withstanding it, like weight-training, develops the advanced intellectual muscle that you so readily demonstrate. And such, I think, is the source of your Creative Endurance. Can you tell I've just spent the last couple of days in Cambridge?? :)) Huffing and blowing BIG TIME here. On a purely sensual basis, this makes me think of the inexplicably healing powers of swimming with dolphins, for some reason. Perhaps it is because they love to tease and always come up smiling! Which is what, I think, this write is intended to do. Let me know when you discover Friday, Robinson Crusoe. LOL K xx
This blew me away, Jude...perhaps it's just that kinship with the shore and the perspectives that suddenly come over me when there or the pull of the sun, moon and tide that unravels life's complexities or adds to them. Seems to have a mighty affect on you too...I look forward to more of these shorline mixes of reality and fantasy. This is a definite winner.
Creative Endurance has a precise type of creative energy flowing here and the poetic engineer turns on a switch where raw energy flows through the switchboard. We know exactly where the thinking is done here and we can measure it with precision and this poetic engineer can change directions and turn them on and off in the mind like a conductor running a street car along a track...Creative Endurance is a spectrum of survival...
The view of the chronically creative is always as the view of the figurehead on the bow of a ship. Feeling first the winds that drive and propel, and also keeping eyes fixed on the ever-evolving horizon.
Those pressing forward, into new territories, will always break the mold of staid complacent thought, and application, and cause those who partake to either balk, or embrace.
The journey could well be the "netherworld" of chance, as the poet has suggested, especially if our journey takes us down into the abode of dead souls, or hell, or the criminal underworld.
I always loved going to the beach very early im the morning and found private exilluration in leaving the first footprints upon the beaches. It seemed the seagulls even call in a more whispered song when the beach is renewed by the tides.My private moments thinking even has more clarity. Your pen is a beautiful morning at the beach for me.
At times it seems difficult to know if the realities of life reside within our dreams and imaginings or in the terra firma where our physical being is anchored. Certainly the bitter realities, the ones that our higher selves just never seem to learn to relate to, are rooted upon the earth; those things like war, greed and man's inhumanity to man are some of these that I find to be impossible to wrap my understanding around. To the person who believes and relates to the perceptions of the spirit, it seems strange that we should live in a world filled with such grief and destruction yet the stark physical beauty that this place beholds serves to appeal the higher spirit. What you have written upon this page seems to plunge me deeply into the most diverse of the ying and the yang. The beauty and the beast that mankind truly is, the agony and the ecstasy of the earth. Nice work, Jude and you give me a lot to ponder in these early, budding hours of my day...but for now, I think a cup of coffee is in order to get the gray matter into the spin of a full-tilt.
Take care,
Sherry
