~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we walk across the boardwalk
Our steps sauntering in unison
Our voices sharing a vision of a better world
Flourishing in the streets and valleys
Of every small town and large city
Though deep in your heart
I know you’re considering
What will really become of it all?
I can feel a sense of gloom
Impending in your heart of hearts
You ask me what will arise
From the conflict
Playing out in the events of the unenlightened?
So many obsessed
With egocentric dreams
So many possessed
By the primitive onslaught of destruction
You look so troubled and uneasy
As you expression becomes edgy and dismayed
Your mood shifts like a tide pulling back on itself
As you begin to consider the prospect of “end times”
“Are we really walking dead, or perhaps the chosen?”
I smile and look into your eyes and whisper
“All that matters
Is the power of our love
For it is that love which will keep us eternal”
These lines are awesome... and the rest of poem sweet. Yeah really sweet especially the way you ended it.
Thanks for the comments and really sorry for the delay in getting back.
Robert ...
A good, solid, easy to assimilate, introspective write.
There are many voices in this world, all with their own agendas and takes on things. Enlightenment, in these days, has taken on an entirely different meaning than two thousand years ago.
It has become so relative to the philosphy's and scoffers who now dot the landscape like toxic mushrooms, all bound by their own views and sins. Views that change on a whim with every breeze of new-fangled fad or reason.
Justifiably - the most frightening thing about TRUTH, is that when you close your eyes in death, it is too late to make a choice for HIM.
"For it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that the judgement."
I enjoy your mind ...
I love the way you ended this, Jude. My soul is full of gloom when I look at the state of "our" world. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and peace to you,
All things may pass away
But love rules the day
Excellently written to keep us focused
And pointed the right way.
Haunting to see that look of fear in someone we love be it a lover, a child or a friend for a part of us feel that same fear, however your answer is the right one, we must as you say Robert enjoy and hold onto love here and now so it will be there forever. Thank you for sharing this sage advice.
We have been waned by Our Lord about the end of times. There are those who prefer not to believe. This was also predicted. But your conclusion is the right one. We should not be so afaid of the end of time, but we should concentrate on love. Victor
Philosophers know better than to adhere to "end times." There is no such thing, an exaggerated emphasis. The world will go on and on and on, regardless of those who choose to believe the end is near. Mental peace and the power of love is what keeps us eternal and alert so we are not in the evil clutches of withdrawal of the mind to distract our attention from the higher phases of spiritual growth. If more people would read from history books, our world is in a phase that has happened before us. The key is to cultivate the spirit of contentment and train yourself in enduring changes of the environment and study with devotion and an open mind, and seek what you might love, in love with loving and a way without snares. I've truly enjoyed your last few poems, Jude...remember Michelangelo went from 33 to 37 years in his Sistine ordeal and evident was his personal transformation of spiritual growth...it's good to see our lead poet in transformation...
Jude, this is glorious and so open of the heart.God, many could use the passion of the heart being open..That's whats so deeply missing in this world's people.. We do live in a era of prophetic prophesy coming to pass. I see it many places world wide. I love how the Dahli Lama talks about wisdom and truth...He's just a gentle munk from Tibet..Many people are reacting to the prophetic times we are in several ways. I am reading tons of stuff from all kinds of spiritual avenues, many avenues of thought, knowing the basic foundation is love and to be loved.We must keep our hearts open..THIS IS KEY~~~ Your growing tremendously.I see it in the fruit of your spirit--Thank you..
