~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You’re not like the rest
Never demanding or demeaning
Never putting me up to the test
Always comforting and soothing
Always promoting my dreams
What I enjoy the most
Is your sincere and honest touch
How you listen and advise while tackling my delusions
Defining when I’ve gone a bit too far
Even as I sound convincing
You offer higher ground
Even when I’m intrusive
You understand my frustrations and reverse my mood
You know, we’re just strangers
In an awkward world
And somehow you welcome the dangers
When I become unfurled
There must be something you see in me
Some reasoning to my madness
You know, maybe I’m not all that crazy
For you’ve allowed me to know you
We are all just mirrors. Another lovely piece of work. Nicely done. Very touching. I like the line "your sincere and honest touch," which resonated with me, personally. Best wishes. -=ra=-
Thank you Robert, your words have made me feel that perhaps I am a somebody after all. Perhaps there still is in me something of worth,
and not the dried up old prune I thought I was becoming.
I'd say Sara is right on :):)
Ach Poets would be the hardest ppl on the planet next to musicians to understand LOl especially if you're not into the arts or have that type of personality, BUT, there is always one who tweaks us where it's needed, even if we are off our rockers, ( like me for example)
Seriously beautiful Jude, and it was bound to happen.
Captivates the spirit of contentment and somehow I conjured up a vision of you wandering off from your village at night and playing your jews harp poetic Dylan style on the way to her house, with amorous vagabondage tendencies, promoting your dreams where you are regarded as strangers no more, but compatible in both your dreams and flesh...lines of loyalty, Jude...
Nice to find compatibility in an ever widening world. I once stayed at a stranger's home on the other side of the world--Pakistan-- we hit it off closer than with my twin brother.
Sometimes we we seem to know more about strangers than someone who's close by. It's a mattre of trustworhy. The best relationship is built on trust and being honest.
I love this write a lot!!!!!
... You know, it is almost a year since you wrote these words: " O dear Spirit, raise your sail up high and catch the healing winds as they flourish around YOUR eyes... And never fret upon the unknown, or the seas that are dark and deep... Maintain YOUR inner beauty with the light you always reap..." You have given out to your Kindred Spirit and what goes around comes around. And crazy??!! Says who??! As poets, we are not psychotic, surely, but romantic ideallists, perfectly rational by the light of our own reasoning? Strangers we may feel in this alien world we currently inhabit, but how is it, with some people, that we sense that we have known and held them all our life, even when just viewing them across the street? Methinks there is no "allowance" being made here, Jude, because this kind of understanding only comes with "knowing" in the deepest place of unspeakable intimacy to start with... There is all truth in the biblical words that "perfect love casts out fear", because, in relationships, fear is mostly rooted in a lack of acceptance. Vulnerability and trust are most beautifully in balance and countertension here, such that ensures that this tree's roots grow deep into fertile soil. Your poem tangibly demonstrates the mystery whereby pondering deeply the "good" we see in a benefactor causes us to see what is beneficient in ourselves. A beautiful awakening in this write! TY K xx
I love this series of couplets, Jude...full of honesty and sincerity of heart ...answering questions in your own mind with the romance of positive you find in someone special...so touching real and as though stramgers, you have discovered a special inner beauty and uniqueness of spirit. Wow...no Double Wow...
it is everything to have some somebody who can do that, Jude, and agony not to have it. another poem that plants a flag of friendship and raises high the banner of hope, which can only be lifted by two or more in this awkward, splintered world of ours. Dawn
Acceptance is the highest form of loving another, Jude. There are no perfect people and we must learn that love comes to us as it is, kind of like a blue-plate special...you get the special, no substitutions, accept it and enjoy it. This is a well executed and timeless piece. Nice!
Take care,
