~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Autumn always satisfies my appetite
Like a banana sundae
With all the extra toppings
The sweet and earthy aroma
Autumn delivers to my table
Is a treat
I never get enough of
It is an appetizing cuisine
My mind and soul articulate
And digest so smoothly
I find its ingredients irresistible
Sprinkled with dazzling sights
And soothing sounds
Its vivacious cast of flora and fauna
Delight the spirit
Lodging within my flesh
It always fills me
With awe and amazement
And as I watch geese flying in formation
I form into the horizon
Looking down at myself passing by
Wondering if I look edible
Imbibing nature's autumn calories, Autumn's Au Jus is a shapeshifter. Brisk breath-snapping, honking into the wild blue yonder en route to the fertility goddess...spring goslings...
I know exactly what you mean, Jude!
A huge flock of geese flew across our roof, in their instinctive V pattern, heading south - and they were so close, I gasped! [I was standing at the side door, which has a full length panel of glass] I was so mesmerized, that instead of photographing them, I "flew to the horizon" with them, and then, looked back at me, looking at them!
But I never wondered if I looked edible..now therein, is... the crunch :)
Autumn is my season of seasons, too. Great write, Jude!
Love, Rhonda
I find autumn a paradox, love the colours, but find its atmosphere a bit sad, like the last goodbye before the bleakness of a cloud covered five months..
The colors of Autumn are the treat that makes the snap of cold in the air a pleasure and the bounty of the harvest, delivers us those tempting soups, stews and pies that fill our body and soul with the comfort of times gone by. Autumn is a season of pleanty and of the fruitation of the efforts that began in spring. This season always reminds me that the hunkering down of winter is not far away and that the time to rest and for quiet activities is soon to be upon us. Can you tell that autumn is my favorite season? I love the smell of burning leaves and the bite of the wind upon my face. Your images are glorious, Jude, and this poem simply excellent.
Take care,
Sherry
... This is quite unbelievable... the SECOND poem I wrote down here was about swans flying overhead, looking like carrier bags of shopping struggling home to put their feet up with a cup of tea! :)) It hasn't quite fitted with my sultry mood of late, but I'll post it tonight as now I don't feel quite so silly... Yes, must be all them twirling, dancing and dizzifying leaves tumblin round all over the show; the woodsmoke and scintillating low sun in amazing skies; the ruttin and the flocking geese (make sure Turner reads that right...) that gets all the senses bouncing - certainly around here. Good to see you beaming again! :)) A dainty little hors d'oeuvre of a write, Jude, that is piquant a l'orange... Jus knew fruit would be in there somewhere...!! PS Not sure you would do too much for geese, but you'd certainly get the hinds' derrieres all aglow! LOL HonK-honK K xx
