I would say I am wordless to explain how grateful I am to have read Giving Thanks, Misplaced Longings and Face on an Arctic Sea, but that would be a very bad thing for a writer. These works both speak to me on such a personal level - I know the people of whom you write. Fantastic words put together in a magnificent manner. Hmm, I'm still not hitting on what I mean, but will work on it. Thank you....yea, maybe that's it....thanks....

So beautifully meditative and the tone and register are set from the very first breath of the title. Fitting that your thoughts are here recorded for us in rhyme, both internal and end and you have gone for a less-pruned, more leafy-effect: Fullsome, like Harvest! Wonderful interleaving of seeming generalities and specifics; all-embracing and particular. Love the harmonies of the all-encompassing reverberating with the inner life and tension of the intensely personal. All life is here: the small matter and the big stuff. Such acute observation and care in the way life is lived makes for an accumulation of fully-experienced and appreciated moments and a life in which nothing is lost. The strength of these kinds of receipts comes from a place of inner conviction, and will not be shaken irrespective of external circumstances. The intimacy suggested also reminds me of the reassuring tone of Queries of the Heart. Thank you, Jude... On a flip note, I have had that golden oldie by Sonny and Cher running through my head all weekend: I Got You Babe... Kinda reminds... "So don't let them say your hair's too long... There is so much for us each to be thankful for if we just open our eyes and our hearts and allow ourselves to recognize our blessings. It is a shame that any of us can find reason to complain when we have been blessed with being born in this free and wonderful country where opportunity abounds, but somehow, we each find reason for sadness and at times find ourselves unable to realize our dreams. To find joy in the simple things in life, to feel blessed by all that has been granted to us and to share what we can, is what the spirit of Thanksgiving is all about...now pass me a drumstick, please, and how about some mashed potatoes and gravy...;)~~ Wonderful and inspired poem.
