... Sounds like an invitation to the Palace, Senor! Yep, why do we DO that?? Check our appearance before seeking to enter, as if wondering what will be seen in us? After all, we will ultimately portray whatever it is we feel might be desired or expected of us, or rather, what it is we are prepared to give of ourselves. That's what makes this write so different: being on both sides of the door at once, for one thing; and seeking to enter - not toooo fast, lest the moment of transition or mutual exchange in the meeting or encounter is lost. You hit on a very scary point as well... coming face-to-face with the ultimate personification of self is a moment of trepidation.... especially perhaps seeing for the first time whether the personas we have selected for ourselves actually fit the best possible model of all the outcome of all our component parts. Apart from that, Jude, this makes me feel all New-York Christmas in the best Hollywood tradition! Just Bing Crosby crooning by an open log fire to make it perfect, in fact. (Actually, Bob Hope messing about behind would be even better...!) Wishing you dreams come true in 2007 and the further reconciliation between you and your manifold selves! We'll all be tagging along for the unveiling. :)) LOL K xx

Jude it's been a while but I'm not going to say sorry. It seems to be the first thing I do whenever I comment on your work. There is never enough time to read as much as I'd like to or even to comment but I can tell you that when I do get a chance, your den never disappoints.

Jude: This is a reminder to me that we never know who we will meet on the other side of the door. We can truly think we know someone but do we? I liked this.

Well, let's see. This poem can be understood in at least two ways. First, you are meeting your soulmate, who is always an extention of yourself. That is the simpler of the two perceptions. The second one is that no matter who we meet, we always see a reflection of our self. For each of us, the other person is always what we perceive them to be, nearly never who they really are...and so many people question the high divorce rate?! It is not that we don't see some of their independence and the grasp that they have on their life, but in that we always see what we want to see, as well as what is interesting to us...and what interests us most, is ourselves. This is a great pen, Jude, even in my nearly half asleep state.
