~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The only sign earth will know of you
Is buried in the soil of your words
Along the icy edge of the lake you once loved
Sitting on a stone edge
Beside this shore
Reading your poetry,
Watching deer wander by the lakeside
I can’t help but recall the light in your eyes
Reach outward to the depths of the night sky
When moments of glitter feel upon your head
Reaching toward me
As well as to all you knew
There’s a bit of a fog
Leaning out to the center of the lake
I swear I can see your face reflecting
In its forming appearance
Offering gifts
Bearing testimony of another time
And the wonder of yet another beautiful place
The fog bank unfolds from its timeless sleep of oblivion. Casting glimpses of the unfathomable of time and space, from the vailed surface of the deep. This one reminds me of the picture I have on my wall of a mysterious fog bank that appeared on a beach in Machrahanish Scotland.
a wonderful poem to ponder Robert and I'm pondering and wondering,
i feel that fog is gathering on us all each and every day. It gets closer and closer, then when the head is stuck right in the middle of it, we have to figure quick so we can get a breath of fresh air. maybe the fog wasn't so bad, who knows until it comes
The words of the poet are immortal, and make the poet so. Outstanding imagery and sentiment.
Yeah, gifts indeed which then go on to bless others as that inspiration rises in the thoughts and is metamorphosed and blended into the soul of another author, painter, musician... artist. And that mystical sense of "place" has just clicked with me, having been to Dylan's Laugharne last week, then reading what Penelope Shuttle said about finding the spirit of her poet husband in Andalusia - a place they had never visited before. All part of the mystery and the magic of the nine tenths of the iceberg that goes to make up the ways in which we unwittingly interact person to person. And the special bonding that can exist within and outside of spatial time frames. The hushed tone and diction conjure the same awe, reverence and wonder as did your recital of Growing Gem. I hope you are keeping that dictaphone of yours busy...!! :)) K xx
Most people die this time of year, but published poets live again when curled up by the warm fire, their readers live again their thoughts.
Well said, poet.
Your words are hypnotic and carry with them that feeling of floating that comes with meditation or from tapping into the energies of those who have left here, but still come to visit and spend time with us. Your images are beautiful and strong and your words keep her alive in the etherial mass that hovers just beyond our aura. This is a wonderful Jude "classic". A keeper for sure.
Take care,
Sherry
Poet, it is as if this poem is an offering to the gifts that were given, the world through anothers eyes. Love transcends both time and space, and it sounds as if the sharing is continued.
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
