Steel Teardrops

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His skull is a steel teardrop
Impenetrate, lackluster, dense and callous
Hardened by a compulsion to acquiesce
To the will of broken rainbows
The prospect of modifying
The mood of his lips
To suggest a smile
Is an unwelcome option
Uncertain and vague,
Unprincipled in affection
His fondest conviction
Is just to awake in the morning
And call it quits
His heart beating
Inside a bloodless vacuum
Catering to a tapered sky
Problematic and knotty to the touch
Difficulty in breathing smoothly
Stressed, duressed, totally unpleasant
Lives in a house of steel shattered glass panes
Dreams through a bolted doorway
Calls me at night just to protest
Jude,
This sounds like a dark place I have visited many times........Sometimes the only light I have to guide me is Divine and Holy.......I cling to Him like an infant and the black slowly fades.......
Peace,
Sounds like my brother who has spent more than half his life behind bars, has nothing good to say, and half the things said, are lies of trickory to pull at your heart strings so he can bleed you some more...I know this guy...and the only thing you can do, is pray...pray...pray...
A heart felt write!
Love and Peace~
Potent imagery herein, Jude. ...dreams through a bolted doorway... sad to think how many souls actually live that way these days.
Another brilliant capture, Poet.
A tremendous piece of work, Jude. Describes the depths of a clinical depression well. The saddest part of these things is that the person so desperately needing this help, rarely, acquiesesces to the sound advice of those who truly understand the problem.
What a powerful and sad write! Depression does sad things to people, I have a friend whom this write describes...she suffers from depression which in turn causes her illness in her body, she has shut herself away from the world and doesn't allow others to see her pain and tears. She calls me occasionally and wants to vent, I try to be patient and listen. I have offered advice, but she doesn't want to hear advice, always counter attacks what I suggest...so I just try to listen, offer friendship, and prayer! You've captured the spirit of this one well my friend, you never cease to amaze me!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
Consistent with the Peruvian Temple of Doom. The decapitator god, a head-taking god worshipped by the masses who are naive and tranced by his vile potion, takes his own head, his trove of heads including his own tell a bloody story, this character is excavated century after century...
You have been soaring with one gem after another! Can you share some of what you're on;-) This is such a vivid portrait of a person who is their own worst enemy! Destroys themselves with self loathing, yet blames everyone but themselves for it.
How is it that Mr or Ms Negativity of the Inner Soul loves to chew away at that hallowed space of dreams within our quiet space? Guess they are never more whiney than when their life's blood is stifled by the life and light of our psyche climbing the fiery staircase in the opposite direction. For me, this tastes like the unsavoury flickering tongue of the Great Opposer licking at our Ascendant Spirit's Achilles Heel. Tell the Rattling Jailor that he can jangle his keys as much as he wants but you're OUTTA THERE! Just one interpretation of a moody and complex poem... TY Kate xx
I really liked this one Jude, it made me wonder how much was cicumstance, and how much of it is wallowing within himself. Either way there is a feeling of being caught;
"His heart beating
Inside a bloodless vacuum
Catering to a tapered sky"
The sky is endless as is his feeling of suffering. Love this image. The starke almost barren lines mesh so well with the image of the man, Outstanding work here.
This poem is touching because it portrays a person who may have suffered from many trials and tribulations that lead Him to shut the door to life in general. It sad when a person reaches such a point in their life...maybe, just maybe, a miracle will happen.
There are those who live within a web of depression and have no idea how to set themselves free. Unfortunately, instead of realizing that they are responsible for their own unhappiness, or happiness for that matter, many of these people see themselves as victims, which renders them helpless to change their situation. Somehow, it becomes the fault of others that they dwell in darkness and sorrow and they are more than happy to share their woe and disappointment with us. The truth is, only the dreamer can change the dream. Potent write, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
The good thing about being a poet/writer, is when the walls seem to close in on us...we can just write ourselves a clear new doorway.
...and that phone call? Just unplug the damn thing. It interrupts the thought process anyway!
