~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Little time left to waste, dear heart
Little time to left to gaze upon the night sky
And dream upon stars
Wondering what will become of us all
Little time left to ignore true feelings
Neglecting to express the love
Growing within the tears of our lives
Little time to hesitate, my love
Never looking back from where we came
Consider when we will move on again,
Into light, forsaking darkness
Provoked to escape the drain of madness
Pulling us closer to earth
Little time to deny our reason
And shrug away our conquests
Disallowing the impending
Crush of being
For it too is necessary in our sojourn
From the inconsequential
From everything symbolizing our feverish flesh
Value what we know as our salvation
From the dead of heart and the emptiness of mind
Little time to wonder, my life
For the time to act has finally arrived
I missed this one but heard your recital of it. Jude this is a tender side of your heart that you don't show too often but it's worth waiting for. True words, little time and no time to waste. Beautiful poem.
When one are ready to kick eightytwo, little time has an humongous significance, as big as when the man in the Funeral Parlor licks his chops when I go by.
For me, it is not madness who's pulling me closer to earth.
Great write.
A wonderful paraphrase of your own signature tune, Hey Jude!.. Or, perhaps, The Ballad Of John and Yoko... Whatever; has the tender Lennon guru quality to it, somehow, and reading it I have a clear picture of the album cover of Sargeant Pepper's LHCB come to me... perhaps I should look more closely... I know the bust of Dylan Thomas is in the picture, but perhaps there's a mugshot of you there as well somewhere!?? :)) Yep, seems kinda fitting that there they all Fab Four were, looking down at their own graveside floral tributes... And sobering, as things turned out. It's a mad, mad world alright. And, believe it or not, the artwork for that album cover was done by a woman in my village. Brownies Honour. A very loving exhortation couched in a most placid but sanguine tone. We still all have so much to experience and accomplish in this life before the bar goes down or the balloon goes up... ALL we have been born and purposed for must be achieved through putting ourselves through the rough, the smooth, the delight and the devastation. Lead on, Macduff.... TY K xx
This poem resonates with my present sentiments as I ponder the direction of my life.
There must be millions of people contemplating in the same way, in a world that is pulling, nay, compelling us to submit to its base instincts.
Evocative piece.
every moment that one shares with another is time...we can choose to use the time in a loving and meaningful manner or simply turn our backs and live the moments just the opposite.
it is sad if one chooses the latter.
down each of our roads we must travel and then what we did or did not do with our time will catch up with us one way or the other.
Time is precious and the more sand that passes through life's hourglass, the more we need to be conscious of each remaining grain and not let opportunities pass us by. We need to refuse to be drawn down by the state of the world, and waste away our precious moments dwelling in sorrows of things that we cannot change. Live each day as though it was our last...that is sound advice and you have laid that upon the page, dressed up in poetic verse. Nice work!
Take care,
Sherry
Wonderful write with a wise message. Life is too short not to enjoy and grasp the moment, I don't want to look back through the years of my life and say "I wish I had, or if would have done, or I didn't have time..." we have one life with no prescribed expiration date...so we must live every day as it could be our last!
