~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though I make a living
It is a life I am working to create
A life not too far before me
One I am never too old to secure
My passion is an effort
Created by soiled hands and flexible thoughts
Gestating in my mind
Emerging from the womb of life’s budding dreams
It will be born
Already grown
All I need is to respond
To what I already have answered to
All I need is to set into motion
What is already conceived
This is the art of creating
Who I am in tomorrow’s grasp
Yes I hope that we are as Joseph says
artists of our own future.
Life's current propels us ever forward yet we are the Artists of our own future, creating wonders in the present moment that become a bridge accross the waters and a light for our path ahead.
Wise words you have penned here, Jude.
All I need is to set into motion
What is already conceived
These are heavy words that open up the wheel of madness that surrounds us every day. Excellent write.
All I need is to respond/To what I already have answered to- I think this is a great description of the urge to create. At first glance it seems like a humorous redundancy, but looking closer it is a wise statement.
... In a poem last year I wrote about a bleached-out Undertaker who said of his work: "It's not life, but it's a living"... and you would seem to show us here the inverse of that sentiment, how the alternative planes of our existance are what's important, and how they are shaped alongside the day-to-day outward manifestations of the daily grind.
I am thinking along the lines of your recent Converging Currents write: as the child, so the man, because, spiritually speaking, he is one and the same. You perhaps illustrate here what it means to incubate your dreams and to subsequently bend the molecular structure of your "real" life around them, grasping ahold of their significant contours so as to develop the structure of your mind and soul... I have been taking notes! :)) A very similar concept to what you say about poetry on your Biog page, and about the poet who gestates them...
Seems to me your blue-collar hands are in the process of engineering and building train bridges... axes between one life and the next, the now and the not-yet, although intrinsically all one thing.
As an aside, I am really struck by the couplet: "It will be born Already grown"... But of course! Makes me think of Peter Pan somehow... When I was young, I could never understand why adults used the tale of PP to demonstrate a supposed unreality and a denial of grown-up "truth". To me, Peter Pan was ALWAYS the perfectly-formed personality in the story, fully "grown-up" in his way... It was Wendy who was still the child "playing at house and mummies and daddies".
One of your accomplished bests, Jude... It has to be; it is your modus operandi and vivendi. LOL K xx
You have reached for and grasped firmly what is often out of reach for most of us who seek it -pure truth. John Keats said in his "Ode To A Grecian Urn":
"Beauty is truth, truth beauty"---that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."
That fact is well exemplified here in this gorgeous piece.
"Emerging from the womb of life’s budding dreams"
An excellent image here Jude. The gift's of wisdom and creative insight are never doled out randomly. There is rhyme and reason why people are who they are. One must desire special gifts above all else, and then struggle diligently against (at times) overwhelming odds to seize the prize.
The wine of your creativity is always a pleasure to sip. Blessings fellow sojourner ...
The mysteries of tomorrow is for us to ponder and for it to happen, that's for we see the weatherman everyday "what it will be tomorrow?" think, if we could get the real answer? still will be it a barrel of fun waiting for tomorrow?
Tomorrow's grasp is a pain, better to make our own.
Nice done.
