You have described my Monday...today...to the nth degree!
My friend, I believe I have been reading your work now since joining the den...five or six years...and you never fail to strike, sometimes softly touch, chords within a readers mind.
This piece is such. In particular, the first tercet, "Strolling through the fog of lose dreamscapes...." and grappling with emoitions in lingering nightmares that stalk one thoughts...that my friend is one of the most vivid examples of PTSD dreams I have ever ran across. This work of yours in outstanding.
Ahhhh!! That thunder! Rumbling under the early morning covers, usually... A wonderful depiction of that REM state of coming alive; that betwixt and between of half-wake-sleep. Depending on the dream activity, that waking-dream state can permeate, colour and shape the whole of the subsequent day, for good or bad, and the intensity of the thunder reminds us that it IS the unseen and the unknown that penetrates the periphery of our subconscious thought that's affecting us this way, rather than the present actual. And Dreamers always experience the frustration of the thunder, too, when "real" life presses in too close, in contradiction to the dreamscape... Then they can experience Attention Deficiency Disorder as a result of the tediousness of days being too dark for them to operate in. Never mind... here comes the night and the chance to awaken to lightfulness again, blot out the dreary greyness of day... if you see what I mean. The visionaries tend to see all the more when the days are at their darkest, don't you think? Light doesn't show up so well in light. Great metaphysical shadow-play, contrasts and paradoxes in a cosy, homely setting... I'm sleepwalking off to go floss... :)) K xx
Powerful and bold statements poemised to perfection. I liked the the couplet on dreamers--
Even dreamers eventually awaken
To realize they are still sleeping
Gosh!... this sounds like something a mother of 11 experiences on a daily basis! LOL!
Sometimes I sit back and realize this frayed, frazzled and worn out "toothbrush" that I am...needs replacing!
So, I do what I must and buy a new one...all fresh and clean...and go back and face their waffling tongues all over again!
I like your analogical take here...Jude~
Enjoyed~

Dear Jude:
Such images and insight here. We all are there at times, some many times - all too often.
"Barely tolerating the thunder within" A line to hope for - toleration not completely overcome.
Jude: Oh, how true this poem is...all of us experience a burn out more often than we would like to admit! We all must admit though that we learn from burn outs and can turn our minds on something different.
Introspection is always good for one, but you tear out the guts and the bone, man! You've penned a creditable visit into the whys and why nots of our living the way we do, and you make us think... for the good, I trust.
This is very good work, my talented friend. - Bill
Wonderful write...the Thunder within...I knew this would be a great write! I can relate to this, as I think most of us can. Afterall, we are all humans and usually there is something that can be triggered and the thunder is released! Even when things are going great, this can suddenly erupt! Well written and expressed beautifully, enjoyed!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
A great poem, which I can identify with. Even when everything is otherwise peaceful in our lives, our inner meanderings--"the Thunder Within"--rears its ugly head to stir up unrest.
Being one who deals contiuously with the thunder within
I especially love this poem! Your brilliance lies in how
you nail what's significant, with a masters touch! We are
blessed to have your poetry to go to school on...
Thank you Sir Jude!;-)Eileen
Haunting imagery, Jude, excellently penned; I was reminded of depression. It sneaks up on you like a storm and lingers, like rolling thunder...well done!
Yep - they sure do Mr Jude - I like that 'waking the vapour of becoming alive' line - all passions and spectres jumping, 'barely tolerating the thunder within' - a few good things to do when that happens - writing is one of them! - is that how you U.S people spell specter? 'waffling tongues' perfect, your poem is waffle free - Good poem, like the tone in the repeat 'Even the...' thank you for the edit suggestions on mine - chopped a cheeky 'that' already - cheers, Nicky x
One has to grasp the thunder, become the thunder and let it fill ones soul. Only then can one live by strength instead of fear. One great pen on the insight of many minds and their downfall.
Nice work, as always, Jude.

How true, but the truly enlightened often use these moments of darkness as learning experiences. We could probably all learn a lot from them.
Introspection is always good for one, but you tear out the guts and the bone, man! You've penned a creditable visit into the whys and why nots of our living the way we do, and you make us think... for the good, I trust.
