~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There’s music in the light
Just ask any musician playing a melody
Though the gyrations of night,
Eyes closed and feet tapping
Just ask the monk
Humming mantras
In the darkness of a cave
His heartbeats are the rays of creation
His voice is the emission of being
There’s harmony in brightness
Just ask any dreamer
Whose song keeps life aglow
Accompanied by the magic
Of music in the making
This is the reason why I wish I were a musician.. Maybe I can lay claim to being a dreamer though ;)
I absolutely loved the lines.. (His heartbeats are the rays of creation /His voice is the emission of being) A beautifully vivid piece!
OMG...Just ask the monk
Humming mantras
In the darkness of a cave... This is more than a keeper, as a good little catholic, I've been taught this, only the monks kept the secret of the oldest form of pure prayer alive during the dark ages.
But the whole poem fits in like hand in glove... I could go on forever, not scrolled down, but I dare say the world already has told you... Genius....
Dear Ace,
I believe that everything that exists is a form of energy, giving off different vibrations, creating the ever-changing Song of Creation. Your poem reminds me of this.
Love & Light always and in all ways,
Extraordinary things (or maybe the magic of natural things) happen when we listen to the light - and it glows echoes of "music in the making" within our vision. Just... read my latest poem. ;0)
Music is essential to our well-being in our religious and spiritual lives...from birth celebrations, to mating calls to death dirges and entertainment in between...songs are poetry first, before they are put to melodies...good example Hea Jude...Paperback Writer by the Beatles and there's nothing more beautiful than to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the Musical Magic of Light...pipe organs and "dreamers whose song keeps life aglow"...
Oh so very true! And all inhabitants of the world keep the beat going on and on and on. Without it life would be very dismal! Keep the music playing and the dreamers dreaming. Good write!
Be safe,
Music of the mantra...it does evolve into this and the song lifts us higher, the light gets brighter and the dream becomes more. There is, indeed music in the light as there is light in the music, one does not exist without the other. Beautiful and inspired poetry, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
Such beautifully expressed and lightly-floating concepts... sent on the air like thistledown. You have a musician's and tuner's ear. You not only see, but feel the musical vibrations your ideas and visions are born from. A delightful mixture of the secular and the sacred, bringing balance and unison to all walks and planes of life and existance. Endorses the Biblical precept, too, that to step together into light brings immediate harmony and understanding that goes deeper than mental assent. I love the last five lines especially... "if music be the food of love, play on!" Very prismatic and, for me, illustrates what TS Eliot might have meant when he said (something like!) poetry should be felt before it is understood. There's glorious linkage between all the threads of this poem and the stanzas which interweave them. Amazingly just this morning, I read in my Poem Of The Day anthology words by Welsh poet, Alun Lewis, which describes his wife as "A singing rib within my dreaming side"... Just how beautiful is that? And how percussive. This resonates, Jude, and I quite agree that it is one of your recent best. It is full of the breath of life and the flow is effortless. TY Kate xx
Enjoyed this write very much as I love music. Can't imagine life without music...as it lightens one's mood and often a worry or burden. Great to celebrate with, bring joy and harmony to our lives. I love to use music in my classroom. My first grade students love classical music...it is wonderful to play just before math time! Enjoyed!
My dreams are conducted by Arturo Toscanini, a popurri of Beethoven mixed with Stravinsky, Shubert with Mahler in a mad cacophony inside my head pushing the words out and filling the spaces with more to say.
Then, silence will play a sudden adagio for a poem.
This poem makes ma think...
