~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You write
Jotted down the silence of your voice onto parchment
Like saintly breath farmed from a river of stars
And cast upon the anointed brow of distant dreams
Fused with the sparkle of an invisible communiqué
Where light and all of its shadows
Reconstitute
Assuring a sacred balance
As it flows along the surface of your hands
Through the quill of idea
You write
Intensifying your meaning
With dazzling calligraphy
Resembling a psalm or sonnet
Devoid of structure
Or the pompous meter of piousness
Mending a breach of flight
With the winged emotion of anticipation
Making it easier to probe the portal
Linking feathered words
With the juicy substance of thought
You write
In uncommon dialogue
In the flare of an exotic language
Arriving not a moment too late
Cryptic yet making total sense
For the scent of musk
Still emanates from the fibers of porous paper
Originating from the fingerprints of your thoughts
In the moonlight far away
Flowing lines so beautiful like the missouri in moonlight, every word and line sparkles with rich meaning, absolutely enriching!
This is so delightful. Where there is an uncommon bond of intuitive connection or understanding, it is as if all is pre-recognised, received and understood before even a word is committed to page. Consequently, the "magic" is ALL in the handwriting, like sacred runes... every swirling curlicue and robust downstroke... as it carries the thread of the interlocking thoughts between the two minds like twinning DNA. It's like being able to see right through to the dark side of the moon. Love the light and shadows reconstituting, keeping the balance between the recognised and the, as yet, unknown; maintaining the dramatic tension between revelation and mystery. Another good read, Jude... and an excellent write! :)) TY Kate xx
"You Write" exemplifies the awesome power of the pen. This piece is so rich in metaphor and ethereal imagery, it effectively demonstrates how writing gives birth "With the juicy substance of thought." The images in the last couplet are mesmerizing. Great work, Jude!
Beyond expressive words, this poem resonates through the very DNA that is the soul of the poet. Mingling through that common thread that we all share, you take the reader to an uncommonly visited place where all that emerges from our quill is birthed. Strikingly beautiful, Jude.
Take care,
"You write, I wrong." What you have to say to your significant other or write to an AD poet ;-).
That nonsense said, I think this unique work refers to the thoughts conveyed to paper from a farawy loved one, deserved to be preserved on fine parchment forever.
For me, "You Write" starts out on a rather peaceful, quiet mode, then its message increases in tempo, like a pen racing on paper, becoming more frantic to pen the thought, rushing to wrie an idea, then slowing down as it states the ponderings of where the thought originated--in the moodlight far away.
"Jotted down the silence of your voice onto parchment" It's such a simple thought, yet I've never heard it or thought of it that way. My voice is often silent but I can express on paper. This is absolutely one of your best, Jude.
And I have the privilege of reading this poem You write...the very core meaning of why I created these special-quilled Jude Forese lines in my poem We Built This City:
"The lead poet summons
his well-read, calciferous
disciples to the freestanding
stone wheels under the
chariot pulled by celestial
stone equines, to the
heavens"
...to read You write is to understand how writing evolved...no other invention - perhaps the wheel comes close - has had a greater impact...
