~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Her presence filled the room like a scented garden
The color of her thoughts
And the warmth of her smile
Were testaments to the sparkle
Flowing from her eyes
And yet, something was out of place, bemusing me,
Confusing the vibes emanating about me
At first, I could not come to terms with exactly
How the atmosphere changed so promptly
How an unknown genus of emotion
Stemmed from deep with the soil of her charisma,
Stunting the spiral of finely contoured petals
You could never know by just looking at her
An aroma of pain was throbbing within
Something had gone astray
Something that could not be said
Or read with the palm of her embrace
So she greeted me and remarked on the beautiful day it was
Yet all I could now sense was how the night was growing darker,
And began to wonder if I could find any stars
I guess I have to agree mainly with Cynth'ya on this one.
Your poetry is a star of the first magnitude.
I really enjoyed the images that this poem created in me: The swirling emotions overriding the outward appearance of joy and happiness and the image of the dark with you looking for the possibility of stars. Great job, as usual. ;) Silver
...Into the Great Unknown, beyond the reaches of the discovered self and out into the heavier waters. You speak of the finer chords of spiritual connection, those that are intuited rather than superficially felt. Beautiful and elegant intimacy inferred between "her" and "I", a real sense of knowing as to what is and isn't "usual". Communication via articulation is a bemusing thing in itself; the way life is ordered, so much goes unsaid either circumstantially, intentionally or by ommission. But the contrary thing is, often it is the agonising things that bring a blessed sense of peace once aired, and, by contrast, the "joyful" utterances can be a complete let-down and damp squib. Perhaps it IS better just to stick to the weather! :))
Yet the final couplet places the rest in context. Venturing into the outer echelons of deep space, pressing for disclosure which goes beyond this world's understanding: stars are only within our eyesight and timeframes, after all. But you are mining for knowledge that goes beyond even that of your Hidden Caves write. It would seem that darkness holds no mystery for you in the Universe; all is unveiled before your sight. Unfathomable depths, imperceptible and impenetratable to most, are dealt with with your characteristic lightness of touch, beauty and grace. You perhaps already know this lady at least as well as she knows herself. Maybe better.
And PS, the skies here have been totally panther-like these past two nights... inky velvet black with only the solitary bright eye of the moon... no stars! :)) Kosmos Kate xx
This is a scenario that many have been presented with in the years. I, personally, love the idea of being the eyes of another's silent reflection. This is tender, respectful and beautiful.
As beautiful and delightful as someone seems, there is almost always some inner darkness. Sometimes it is well hidden and remains invisible. Sometimes the darkness reveals itself to those who are willing to look more closely. Well done!
Outward beauty, but with a light of sadness breaks a caring person's heart.
"...Yet all I could now sense was how the night was growing darker,
And began to wonder if I could find any stars"
This fills my heart with despair and tragedy when you can't "get in" and bring light.
Brilliant dedication to your wife, so many lose the perfect sparkle.
Shows real depth of a warm loving tender heart... I hope every night is a scented garden untill the final embrace.
Wish this was longer, all the readers senses come in to play...
This beautiful write allows the reader to image all kinds of scenarios. It gives me a sense of you seeingher at first with sparkling eyes, only to find with a closer look her inner pain which for you, took away the stars and made you wonder if only darkness would ensue Very atmospheric and captivating...
You are feeling here energy, you are seeing her aura, but at first glance you feel she is complete and perfect. When you really look at her and begin to really take her energy in, you begin to see that she is not perfect, and she has a darkness, or emptiness deep within. What is on the outside, doesn't necessarily reflect the inside. Sometimes keeping things in a lighter vain, doesn't allow for people to really feel their pain.
Beautiful deep poetry, Jude..Very thought provoking.
Perhaps the sparkle and flair are her face-paint, applied to hide the dark sadness she holds inside. In a casual pass, we see tranquility, beautiful make-up and smell the sweetness of perfume. Upon closer inspection, we find that she is a broken wing, suffering from past situations that color her world in shades of darkness. Stunning and complex offering, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
we put stars in her night by acknowledging the dark void, graciously accepting the precious gift of the sparkle streaming from the eyes of her soul and becoming vulnerable enough to acknowledge our own darkness within and allowing our own star to be born. there is depth and beauty in these words. Excellant write my friend and for some reason the crisp images sent me reeling into a flashback of the sixties... a black lit room, strobes, bead curtains, a haze of combined cigarette and grass and a girl in a long swaying skirt and tye dyed shirt but I digress...great write my friend.
What you have described in Starless Nights is the mystery of the Aura Portrait done in the seven colors of the chakra. She's hiding her soul colors. Adjust your air brush and you'll find the stars. She needs her energy space cheered up so her enlightened energy reflects back to her. You've read her auric field well, Jude...something perhaps traumatic exists in her vibrational energy...
