~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who are you weaving the sky with motion?
A skillful boarder who knows all the moves?
An assiduous dreamer creating a reality
That never fully transpires?
A pirate who relinquishes his treasure to the sea?
A nomad wandering familiar streets
Leading to distant ports and unseen boundaries?
A holy membrane bored with the prospect of heaven?
A transgressor transcending the tainted beliefs
Sickened by hell?
A watchful benefactor who gives to the poor
While accommodating the panorama of the rich?
Who accepts the worst but hopes for the best?
Who are you?
Taking on the feat of a warrior
Combating battle cries of evil?
Remaining an invisible guest in the ambit of light
While seeing through the shadows living underground?
Are you under a spell
Or above the commotion of motion?
This is a call to the masses which must be answered. Let us look into ourselves and into others deeply, past the outer shell of the image we present to the world and peer into our hearts of darkness, so we may discover the source of light. I love poetic questions which prick our sensibilities and force us to find answers. An amazing piece Jude!
I believe that we can be all this, a contradiction, an enigma, a solid rock, an enlightened soul that once was dark, It is all what you choose to do with your life. Your life choices and what is best for your own comfort zones. You can be anything you wish, you have the power!
Powerful and insightful write. I think we all seek identity, as the world shapes who we are as well as people in our lives.
Seems to me like you can't quite make your mind up... you've changed bits of this a few times already! :)) When I first read this days' ago, I made a mental note that the lack of punctuation changes the way it reads substantially. So I went through it in me head, putting in commas here and there - like in the first line, for example. Otherwise, without, the meaning is totally changed, from self being the subject to "some other" being the subject. What I mean is: like how you changed stanza 7, which, as I recall it, also ran on as one single line, therefore sounding like "who are you taking (with you)", so to speak. Blah-di-blah, won't carry on with my workshopping of your work, but your punchline at the end has changed, too: now you're also asking the question instead of making the observation that perhaps no-one knows. Although, to most it's probably quite obvious. Yes, most definitely! Both! :)) Anyways, hope you're still confused. Being understood is such a bore. And, if you think I'm bad now, just wait til I've handed in my submission on dementia!!! It's like writing about myself... Very considered work, Jude. Love the duality of the holy membrane bored with the prospect of heaven: like pin-pricks of stars in the thin, translucent fabric of the nightsky. Above or below, have a good week. Love, Kate xx
I'm weaving you into the sky with practiced motion. You're mouth is the border, your right eye, in the center, knowing my moves. I twist your membranes with the sinews of beliefs, twisting shadows of doubts around your corners -- weaving my spell. I -- I am the You. And You? You are the Who...? I tie the last knot, and use your eyeball like a trampoline -- disappearing...
Aloha Jude,
Spells, if one wished, could be cast off. For me, I've always preferred being in the midst of the commotion. That is where you can feel the motion of our energy; it is what makes us feel alive.
Interesting enough, no matter what we "believe" the reality is that we most likely accept the yin and the yang of that very thing. If we believe in God, then there is a very good chance we accept the powerfulness of the devil; if we believe in love, we also know hate; if we look for the good in all things we probably recognize the evil as well. As perplexing as all of this might be, it is difficult to clearly understand something without having the comparison of the opposite of that very thing to evaluate it against. Provocative poem, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
