The more two-faced we become, the more our affect is neutralised and annihilated and we also fracture on the inside. A wonderfully observed double entendre, noting that betrayal can be from both without and within. The old adversarial tactic of "divide and rule" is a successful psychological device on both the individual and collective levels. On the other hand, the ability to shape-shift often just comes in handy! Betrayal is painful at the best of times, and especially so if it is without cause and totally unfounded. Effective writing here. xx
