storm of voices

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
an unbearable storm of voices
occasionally converse into deep buzzing circumstances
circumnavigating u-shaped corridors of innermost emotion
like a psycho-patient’s dilemma,
who has missed his daily thorazine
and whose mind is besieged by the heaviness of a capacity- full stadium
i hear the roaring thoughts and infuriating screams
exploring my dreams, collectively devoid of resonance and reason
whose game-plan is to survive another round of deafening brilliance
Psychotropic drug-induced paranoia sanitarium poetry...but don't lock this one up in the rubber room...I'm here to tell you I've heard these voices also, and mine come with the sound of a playing bagpipe...photographic memory using total recall from many eons ago...listening to these "voices" lets us hear our mission...why I delve into the Rorschach inkblots for mind therapy...
Whoa! Your dreams and mine are on a collision course. . .or. . .collaborating?? Noise level's through the ceiling.
Oh, well. Better to be deafened by thought than what is going on Out There. Between the chainsaws, the jets, and the politicians. . .eeeeyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. . .Keep bringing us brilliant gems, Monsieur Jude. Wherever they come from!! 'Pea' <3
Survival of the onslaught. . .
That's only rational.
Or are people too cynical.
Your Poetry Jude - always Radical.
Very interesting. The last line made me think, about "to survive another round of deafening brilliance." I've not yet arrived at how I will interpret that. Two factors are at war. Good theme. Peace, Kathy
Nicely done, and captures an interesting thought--even if in your dreams. I have attended events where a storm of voices drowned out everything everybody was trying to say, which made the talkers talk louder. A mad house!!!!!
All consuming, from every direction, without escape, digging deep into the recesses of our brains. Vivid imagery you pen as somewhat the same as described by my niece who underwent Electroshock Therapy 12 times to silence her head..........Well Done! Deborah
... this so strikes a chilling chord with me, Jude, and evokes a very painful series of childhood memories I must have, centred on visiting my father in a Victorian-type "madhouse". It was bizarre to be aware that I was only a small child (of about 7) in this cacophony of "grown-up" voices, but to consider that I was the only sane and clear-thinking one amongst the whole motley crew. When we feel like those who should be "showing us the way, exhibiting Truth, and putting safe parameters around life" are themselves totally AWOL, then the effects, I remember, are as you lucidly paint for us here. In my case, there was a gulf between what I construed to be the "adult" world and that of a child. But, even so, I knew that these insane voices screaming all around me were creating havoc because of insurmountable and inexpressible pain and confusion on the inside. And yet I also understood that they were convinced of their own sense. My dreams became my fortress, because within them, even though they might be only those of a child, I knew too that they were of more absolute "rightness" than the junk that was otherwise assailing them from this rabble. Sorry to ramble on... but this is just my way of connecting with this. This is hard stuff to take as you deafen us with your brilliance. The image of the mind besieged by the heaviness of a capacity-full stadium is absolutely spot on and so unique. That's just how I remember feeling, sorrounded on this psychiatric ward. Reminds me somewhat of Jack Nicholson and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest... guess some of us will ALWAYS feel like those cuckoos in the nest, eh?! :)) Wishing you peace within the storm. Love, Kate xx
