if it were for not the foregone conclusions
experienced between night and day,
or the tempestuous wanderings
between heaven and hell
presenting some level of semblance
or direction to the genesis of being,
I would raise my body into the sky
returning it to the depths of creation’s unknown sea
and redefine the continuum of motion and decay
growing in the fertile
yet vanishing soil of legendary territory-
only then would I be given an opportunity
to gaze upon your eyes and refresh
the missing moment living between us,
satisfying our hunger
yearning to be experienced,
before our appetite has the chance to be fulfilled
and our tastes, the opportunity to be achieved
life's tapestry of missing moments; hauntings from the depth of cosmic soul; caught in reincarnation's time-warp; the hunger for ultimate unity...
why live life any other way, jude?
a profoundly engaging write, poet.
be well,

Jude,
This one seems to have a tone of regret to it. That one thing you wish you could do over because it changed things. Intriguing write, which gripped me from the start. Hugs~

... a poem that definitely takes us by surprise, falling into two or three parts within the whole, and twists on an unexpected axis: projecting us intially perhaps firmly into the outer echelons of philosophical and metaphysical thought, only to deliver us back into a profoundly seemingly personal and introspective yearning that is contingent on a specific, temporal moment in time, a specific "happening".
Not many (especially not me!) can so seamlessly combine these diverse threads of contemplation, or end up with such a neat result without far more lines and words in the melting pot: "if it were not for"... "I would"... "only then"... : you make it all sound so reasonable and reachable; logical, clear and uncomplicated. You are, at times, so much the Sherlock Holmes of life and love's unfathomable mysteries, leaving the rest of us generally clueless as to "Wats-on?!" :)) And only you could so bury two lines of the most delectable passion and intensity within a body of words of such calculated intellectual and literary sobriety.
Thanks for this refreshment... This reaches me right where I am, buried under 21 years of motion and decay as I deconstruct what has been the fertile yet now vanishing territory of legend within my own family home...
Be well, el Senor Kartero... perhaps I should have mailed this response! :))
The hole in the stone that the falling water drops drilled through will never vanish, as the words of the author wrote to calm the appetite of his readers.

Perhaps in our state of incarnation, some part of us remembers that spiritual freedom of range and wander. Your words shine with the glow of an enlightened mind.
No matter how close we become with a person, there still remains that area of mystery that we can never be a part of. Perhaps this is a good thing, something that keeps relationships fresh? Once we find the treasure, the hunt is over and we must find something new to bring intrigue into our life. Perhaps in the next plane we will enter the realm of fusion of the souls and become one entity with our soul mate. Dreamy ponderings shape this excellent poem.
Take care Jude,
Sherry
WOW, I just read what Sage said and I haven't got the foggiest clue what it means, or did she say what you said but in different terminology...either way I tend to agree with the desire it seems you have to move out of body & become one with your partner...Keep cool up there in NY...& Find peace, Ed & Rufuz
Esoteric cosmology. Neoplatonism constitutes a deific state of existence right in alignment with this title vanishing. Transcendentalism and dualism, spiritual ascent as leading ultimately to the One (The Absolute). Usually the higher worlds of Light, called the Pleroma or "fullness", are radically distinct from the lower world of Matter. The emanation of the Pleroma and its godheads (called Aeons) is described in detail in the various Gnostic tracts, as is the pre-creation crisis (a cosmic equivalent to the "fall" in Christian thought) from which the material world comes about, and the way that the divine spark can attain salvation.
This poem is consistent with Madam Blavatsky in her Theosophical writings where she presented an extremely complex cosmology, in terms of a seven-fold series of cosmic planes and subplanes, and a very detailed sevenfold system of cycles. Could even figure into Max Heindel's magnum opus The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception (1909) - an evolutionary process of man and the universe, correlating science with religion. Satisfy your hunger, Jude...
