~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
fancy my extensive
range of preconditioned preceptors
playing on and on like an incongruous concerto,
going up and down like a Ferris wheel
observing over and hovering above
the amusement park of my thoughts and emotions
spinning me around into an unimaginable wormhole:
transporting me from one place to another
in a moment’s instant,
so I pretend I can refrain from dealing with the inevitable
surrounded by rounded, though obtrusive edges of being
slipping away into a murky spectrum of brainstorm waterfalls,
appearing in the middle of a distant deductive desert
reconstituting, reconfiguring,
growing into the grainy texture of becoming
what will be expected to be
as it slips out of my hands
suspended on the wind
in a quarry of quizzical revelations,
wandering through a dream in the middle of the day
sometimes, I awaken from this dreaming
and find that I am different from what I am
or who I know myself to be
fancy this, i will keep guessing
how much longer I will be alive to keep wondering
and dreaming of tomorrow and perhaps more of today
The sand dune like shape shifting imagery is fluid, and the whole rendition is evocative. Thanks for sharing this introspective and probing poem.
that introspective whirlwind where we see ourselves for what we are, render new interpretations, then reel in retreat, only to project on others once again
very nice piece, jude
Jude I wish you'd come around more often, your poetry plays deep cords of the soul and mind. What will we become when at last it "Slips out of our hands"? I doubt even a mind as brilliant and a soul as ancient as yours can imagine.
Days should be coins, life coming with a slit where to drop those coins where they will be until one day, when we need just a little more time, not out of fear but of some unfinished thing or some words not yet said, we can take some. Fancy this?
Dreaming, traveling with one's mind
interesting, surprising, sometimes even frightening...
I like these lines:
"sometimes, I awaken from this dreaming
and find that I am different from what I am
or who I know myself to be"
very thought provoking...
Concepts of thought very strong here as you journey through such murkiness, mired in between two worlds. One world of what should be and one world of what is. Deep, profound thoughts....
Be always safe,
Karen
Well, it'll do for starters! :)) Fancy, such a magic carpet ride that is but a moment in the perceptual, conceptual reality that's the inner life and drive of The Dreamer. Love the slippery, slidey feel of the butter-fingeredness of such an existance, quite womb-like in many ways, and the recognition of those extraneous knobbly elbows of external crowds along the way, trying to puncture the dream-membrane and "birth" The Dreamer back into the inevitable of "real" life. I can so relate to this, often feeling insulated from the world around when in such a state, yet "waking" to inhabit this "other", changed self once roused. And what, exactly, does "being alive" actually mean (in time and space) when it is possible to exist on so many different planes simultaneously? This is quintessential Forese and life outside the box, swinging from tree to tree on the high wires of metaphysical thought as per u. Safe journey, Kartero, as you continue to tease and delight us with your dare-devil Acts. aKrobatiK Kate xx PS Seems to me to be a nice counterpart to shattered matter.
Tomorrow will come whether we prepare for it or not, but injecting positive perception into our future gives us hope and purpose. This is a wonderful write from the soul of an optimistic dreamer. Never lose that quality, Jude, as it perfumes your writing with messages that waft upon the souls of your readers.
Take care,
