~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you are determined to merge your dreams
into the fabric of my thoughts
where the meltdown of our ideas and emotions
transforms into a alchemical blessing
moving upward
into the golden mist of creative endeavor,
blooming into a blueprint of passion and strength
joined together
into a lone mass of vision and voice
I understand what you search for,
for it is also what I long to secure,
a devoted yet uncommitted embrace
warm but distant laughter,
like syncopated flames consuming the fuel
rising on waves above the sea they ride upon
expressing joy without elation,
acknowledgment without recognition,
smiles without any of the tears
and perhaps then, only then,
we will experience a universal sigh of wonderment
without any trace of the fanfare
or subjugation to the loss of its embodiment
Love the stanza about laughter being as syncopated flames consuming the fuel… like a good flambee! For some reason this makes me think of the story of The Precious Pearl; the social equivalent of the biblical pearl of great price (under your original title); a radiant fusion forged over time, nothing hurried, and largely through subliminal means -- the way the beauty of the pearl is nurtured and cultivated by secreted living flesh. A wondrous blessing indeed. This poem is no overstatement of the understated effect of such mysterious, metaphysical meltdown; the devotion and commitment enduring simply because it is not manufactured or man-made… but living, breathing a glorious life of its own. No fuss, no bother. Just mutual gain. xx
There can never be a rainbow without the rain. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and most times, we must be satisfied with "the best it can realistically be." We all have dreams of things being quietly perfect, but we must understand that these are our dreams and as soon as we add another person to the mix, the dream warps into a new reality. Beautiful poem, Jude, lots of depth and heart.
Take care,
Sherry
This sounds like a non-threatening friendship that will never be hindered by sexual tension or anything serious. It sounds like both want the protection of not feeling too much. Very intersting poem, Jude> I'm probably all off in my interpretation. Long lost Janet
Lots to contemplate here but and I see the beauty of the poet's plan but yet I see the flaws as well for love without the ups and downs, the ebs and flows, the happy and sad seems somehow bland in my eyes.
Often, what we love in others are those same qualities we wish to nurture within ourselves - elevating our beings to their most authentic state where we can mingle/relate in sublime, truly experiential ways. Your opening lines are perfect and speak to every poet's spirit-song.
One wants to merge, the other wants separateness while enjoying the intimacy of sharing. Women are emotionl; men are objective, and there lies the crux of a breaching situation.
Finding what was never lost transport us to where we gave what we never had...and then, smiles without tears? really? because between lines much else was said.
Vacillatory, transformer man! It is extremely rare that a poet transforms interlocking segments of green vitriol in alchemical syntax and ends up with this universal formulation. Ancient notebooks are full of this stuff, you know! You know those antique color transformers changed our lives forever, those of us old enough to at least have seen them in antique stores. The blue, purple, and green transformers melted down, "joined together into a lone mass of vision and voice"...telepathic and wired...ethereal and traveling the weird, orbital paths of Einstein's relativity theory. Cosmically speaking, "finding what was never lost"...traces something like a Spirograph pattern...
"where the meltdown of our ideas and emotions
transforms into a alchemical blessing
moving upward
into the golden mist of creative endeavor,
blooming into a blueprint of passion and strength"
You're in a cycle, transformer man...wonderment
Only a gifted poet such as Jude could write the lines:
"warm but distant laughter,
like syncopated flames consuming the fuel
rising on waves above the sea they ride upon"
I applaud your talent Jude!
I like this. I think unconditional frienship and bonding is what it's all about. Great poem.
