rippling affect

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            reflections on rivers
  imitate what’s passing along their surface-
   I have given up walking across rivers.
   I’d rather slip into their depths
  and be defined by a mysterious murkiness
     crystallized
                    by an absence of image,
        exposed to a profusion of persona;
           unsettled
          by anonymous currents
                                             and nameless moments.
         this is the moment you see yourself,
             miraculously
     rippling across obscurity
          mimicking your façade
      inside the origin of your theoretical being.
Deep in the river, really getting to the bottom of it all and not being fooled by the surface. Excellent. Liz
Depth of thought fills your work Jude...one can read and reflect seeking to find that area of mind which brings forth the very moments you write of...we as the outside trying to look in are captivated to search through your thoughts wondering...are you really walking across rivers or ...are you the river itself...
truly nice work...
people of many parts, both superficial and down deep. I very much like the stand-alone statement: "I have given up walking across rivers" - its so concrete as compared to the swell and swim of the conceptual rest. In context, walking across rivers would suggest to me judging people by their appearance or first impression. It is perhaps as we get below the shoe size and facial skin that we start to mix and merge, finding both our similarities and unique distinctions. This poem makes me feel as if I'm both swimming and breathing underwater; it's kind of out of the body, with all barriers down. Open and receptive, yet transmitting "waves" of being as well. Makes me think of the cover of your MIM book. xx
An interesting write that sounds like deep meditation to me. I think the word "ripple" is akin to Albert Einstein's theory of relativity. Everyone and everything is linked, related, etc. and letting the imagination take over can create comparisons and contrasts from the inner shell to the outer environment.
I love this comparison for it is all too true that we often tend to stay on the surface and be just a mirror image instead of as you say wading into life and becoming a part of it, no matter the consequences...well done Jude.
The only way to really understand ourselves it total immersion though introspection. You have, once again, found a way to express this truth poetically and clearly. Great job, Jude.
Take care,
Simply put, poetry doesn't get any better. I applaud you my dear friend.
Introspection through reflection - buoyed by achievement and more confident in aqua camouflage. The soul's emergence dipped into the baptismal stream - the dead duck on a stick ressurrected into a flapping mallard. Confidentally, we look forward to the duck's ressurection...it is now we see just how insulated we are through the life of the quill...hope floats ethos and exigencies of rebirth through the ripples which elongate and refract longevity, Jude...
Sage
