landing in fog

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
clarity is an illusion
trust solely depends on the level of visibility
one feels comfortable with
like riding a bicycle
on a trace freshly fallen snow,
the trail ahead is blank
and behind you, a duality of form and presence
points to the direction you have taken,
so you hope to make it,
unless you turn around and slip
stability is the quest to remain anonymous
even the beacon from a lighthouse
is presumptuous when adhered to,
for obstreperous reefs
are hidden and destructive when unnoticed
so rely on the inner compass
to make it safely into harbor
even the fog
will no longer remain an obstacle
when one sees through the mist
of its transient structure
so land vigilantly on the illuminated runway,
where the haven of arrival is seldom realized
and the quest of its attendance,
always being prepared
Good, sound advice. So many people and situations cannot be trusted these days. Love the reasoning surrounding the lighthouse. Hugs,
... funny, init, how as humans we seem intent on arriving somewhere, when our spiritual being and experience is all about journeying. You perhaps remind us here that vigilance is both the means by which to travel safely AND to arrive, notwithstanding the fact that rocks are an ever-present reality that we ignore to our cost, whether prevailing conditions be clear or opaque. I like that inner compass being as that "inner eye of omniscience", and the means by which we can be "sure of things hoped for and certain of things we do not see". Walking out on the heavy waters of faith here, I think; aware of everything, missing nothing, believing... something! :)) Stay tuned. Kate xx
value programming is the check upon which our senses are balanced -- for perception and truth, are often, in opposition -- good stuff you penned Jude -- I thoroughly enjoyed it -- may peace, love and joy be yours -- JMW
Reminds me of the recent plane crash in the Hudson. Vigilance adhered to is rewarded--with a new President! ;-)
"clarity is an illusion" or perhaps lucidness is a conjuration -
What a tone these words set for your poetic premise.
"obstreperous reefs" An excellent image-
And these thoughts here:
"so you hope to make it,
unless you turn around and slip"
I totally relate! Reminds me of the mandate/analogy in scripture that tells us to keep looking forward as we plow our rows in life and never turn around to see where we've been. If we do we can lose sight of our goal and easily get off track.
Excellent wisdom in this Jude. You are a unique and gifted voice. Cool new bio-pic too.
Blessings ...
encouraging words of illumination...especially enjoyed the "rely on the inner compass"...i enjoyed your metaphor, as would the airline passengers to their pilot recently in the Hudson River.
Intuitive, something that comes from an advanced yogi. Enlightenment so the mind-body can experience the absolute reality underlying the illusions of everyday life...landing in fog has a "Krishna Consciousness"...I can hear the mantra being chanted from inside the ashram...landing in fog, landing in fog, landing in fog...the Bronx warrior, though, "long beautiful hair, grow it, show it, long beautiful hair"...60s flashback dressed in blue jeans and tank top rather than shaved bald and donning a saffron robe...sidereal time, based on the positions of the stars in the sky is the beacon of the skylar "Lighthouse"...and the Eskimoes use remembered currents of air for navigation when the whiteouts obliterate their landmarks...goes something in the direction of like the rank smell of a day-old nanook (polar bear) slaughter...self-awareness based poem...
You are so correct in this write, I know from experience that there is no GPS for life to take us where we want to go but our own desire.
So much of what we "understand" in life...is only how we perceive it to be. I especially like these lines, "so rely on the inner compass to make it safely into harbor." This one is a keeper, Jude.
There are times when we have to walk the tightrope without a safety net and when we do, we must rely upon our own wisdom, strength and determination to take us safely to our destination. As much as our senses can assist us, they also can deceive us. Sometimes a shadow is just a shadow and other times, it can be a warning of impending danger. Nice job, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
I find it intriguing the way we perceive things,as your poem so brilliantly illuminates...we can be totally blind,but it doesn't change the conditions that surround us, only the way in which we imagine them...excellent poem to ponder, Jude!
