pacing night’s mysterious embrace,
cigarette in hand, smoky voice, contiguous moonlight cavorting brandy

collapsing dreams wearing away health
as claustrophobic hopes and asphyxiated aspirations weep

through cracks of a wooden door
synchronized beams of light tunnel upon fragile concerns

through memoirs and faded parchment
rove words written to invoke spirits

provoking the eavesdropper of creation
to chase cryptic poems

steering the heart to the future
toward the reinvention of envervated dreams

never to return
even in a lapse of sanity

Dreamers can never not dream. When one bubble bursts, new ones arise to take their place. Like a succession of water drops, each is often a mirror image of the first: budding, forming, then falling - although each surface may reflect a different picture. And their pace gets quicker the more pressure's on... this is the feel I end with here, with such a rapt and intense urgency. I could feel this poem a lot. xx

I once tried to count the revolutions in my life, starting from earliest memory. Letting go is what I seem to be here to learn. So this poem is very much alive to me. You can capture a mood, Jude. This is thick with meloncholia, like dark gray smoke. But those beams of light through the cracks are hope. This is what carrys us forward...Kudos, Lin

Jude,
At first glance, this poem seems like sleep disturbed. The message goes deeper than what's on the surface, though. You have a gift for multi-level meaning within a work. Much enjoyed:) Love and Hugs,

"...cavorting brandy...even in a lapse of sanity..." how many times we were there, doing that? who wants those memories? the author takes us inside his words twister wind without apologies and then...he's gone.

Life's hard enough
Then you wake up one morning
Look in the mirror
And see you're old
"never to return"
Your usual good primo poetry to ponder Jude

this is a work to be analyzed carefully and with compassion -- desperation walks with a bold strut -- listless pacing will not peace awaken -- much love and peace to you my dear friend -- Jon Michael

Disappointment and torn dreams rip through each stanza of this masterpiece, Jude. Shadowy and hazy, your words tickle the fringe of instability and then slip into a fog of despiration.
Take care,

One of my newest favorites of yours Jude. Each line is a poem in itself and then we have a killer ending that made me gasp. You hit close to home my friend.

Ditto Sage! It's like wringing out your soul in words, like a symphony of great sadness, deep and resonant in all the universal being. Into hell you reached, to offer up your soul up to the light, may it shine on you always. Jasmin Horst

Ancient shaman's grimoire at work here propped open with mandrake root...Rosicrucean spirit of the ancient poet carries an apple branch, bentonite clay and elderberries...conjuration to summon and banish...contacting the Great Old Ones...lapse is reflective of an entry into a collection of ancient sigils...reads like an ancient evocation clearing out demons...arcane and occult wisdom of the Elders...
