thinking about this planet,
its countries, cultures and creeds:
its wars, fits of peace
and masses of dreaming sheep

my only consolation: herdsmen
moving over the pastures
of unfettered herd instinct,
awake  and dreaming deep

Jude,
The hardest part about not being a sheep is getting others to listen. The 'sheep' mentality is not easily swayed. Another poem that gets me thinking. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

differentiation between the sheep and mankind is almost insignificant at times -- mankind failing to awaken and strike the hot irons of golden opportunities -- being content to be herded into the pens of apathy and ruled by violent, unscrupulous herdsmen -- this is quite an analogy Jude -- excellent work my friend -- peace and love-- Jon Michael

There are prophets of every age moving mankind along in it's evolution. Always to be ridiculed and reviled by dull, complacent minds trying to maintain the status Quo. Fear, the usual tactic. Opiates of all kinds another. Your compact writes are power surges, Jude!

a good shepherd most certainly leads from the front and the sheep follow in his wake to the greener pastures and stiller waters of his knowledge and vision. Sadly for most of us differing flocks, we seem to have been rounded up into folds and left to starve while metaphysical wolves slaver beyond our boundaries waiting for our redundant herdsman to doze. Still, while 99 will endure the pen, there is still the odd one or two who keep with an upward and onward programme, knowing that some true shepherds have been called towards a new "Bethlehem"! What a totally crazy, mind-blowing vision that must have seemed to the original "dreamers", yet they apparently responded. Goat tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere... An atomic little poem that bangs big with theory :)) xx

What has been done to this planet goes far beyond mankind's comprehension, a most deserving piece...

Given the time and every ability to evolve mentally, emotionally and spiritually, we seem to slip farther and farther away from living within our higher self. Yes, there are herdsmen, but do we heed them? or are we simply following the bell that rings on the neck of the sheep walking in front of us? Sigh...we are a thick headed bunch, we humans. Excellent observations, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry

Jude, I just got info of aliens canceling their trip to this planet for ever, as we have proved to them that we are dumb, they are not and it seems that ours is highly contagious.

Even sheers clipping the fleece, they still can't pull the wool over our eyes...liberated ewes mounting ewes seeping lanolin and bleating passionate cries "don't lower the water, raise the bridge" Noah's Ark...New Age Shepherdesses with a prophetic walking staff tending to their lavender flock...Israel, Jerusalem, Authors Den...

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
