trying to maintain equilibrium in a world
tilting over by the weight of its own fears and doubts,
by abysmal fits of disturbing frustration

trying real hard to soften the outcome
to mend the inevitable momentum of hopelessness
within the fabric of forests and the contours of cities

understanding all i can really control
in the direction of my spirit,
the expansion of my mind and the pulse of my soul

so be it …

Hi Jude, you always make a person think, and I like it! And the message clear.... "i am the master of my fate: i am the captain of my soul"...

On this wacky old wurlitzer of a world I reckon things are hurtling out of control simply because we are all too busy intermeddling in matters that aren't ours to be poking into, instead of managing our own states of affairs first and foremost. Global change starts with me takin care of me, takin responsibility for me, so that, if I'm pear-shaped, I have no one to blame but me. Instead of turning turtle, perhaps the world would right itself if each of us sought to put our own house in order first and foremost. It's always the fault of our neighbour, somehow... down the street, the town or country next door or on the far side of the world. Like the Beatles-esque conclusion to this... having said that, funny that their Let It Be album was the one sorrounding all their break-up and acrimony! :)) xx

inundated with depressive news and oppressive views from countless media freaks with no more knowledge of what they are reporting than the neutrino that bombard us from space, leads to what Ron so aptly describes as having "our fears multiply faster than our solutions" --and that requires us to step back and check out, or "switch off" as John says -- rush to irrational judgements are my worst fears in this tightly knit community we call earth -- there is very little margin for error with all of the fruitcake leadership types around the globe -- mental midgets with self aggrandizing visions floating around in cranial cavities largely devoid of sensibility and sound judgement -- but surely, I digress -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

Jude,
You articulate the struggle very well; personally I try not to switch off but I do more and more each day.

Here, we are privileged to enter the soul of one who exposes his sensitivity and sense of mission to this world. The weight of which is not lost to this reader...

Well versed nutrition for the gray and white matter here Jude. All we are in control of is our own thoughts and consequent actions. What we think is who we are and who we are is manifested in our actions towards one another and life. Say and do nothing unless it feeds your or another person's spirit and all will work out. The world is indeed tilted, we don't have to be. Just maintain balance until the world straightens up again.

Gotta stop watching the news. By tooting your horn you bring awareness of the problem. Alvin Toffler's future shock is upon us. Our fears multiply faster than our solutions.

We will simplify, one way or the other.

luv the way you sum it up,Jude! Perfection! we overcome by knowing what is in our control and what isn't!

After a good nights sleep, this little rouser is like my first cup of mocca java Jude, it stimulates thought, I would say, do what you can, and let God do the rest, but too many though throw in the towel, and expect God to do it all, whatever it is that bothers the conscience. I think Georg had a good Idea about the slate, or just spinning the planet a little faster might do too, ha,

Your poem speaks to millions, Jude, everyone is doubting, fearful, becoming hopeless, but somehow we must remain true to our spirits, and live in hope, peace, love, and light,
Very truthful poem and sending a message that we are all in this together.
Peace, love, and light,

Yep, You are so right, Jude. Politics, ignorance and war will continue long after we have left this place. If we allow our moods and attitudes to be manipulated by these things, we will give up our happiness and freedom for that which we cannot control. Joy, security and love are gifts that we give to ourselves. As long as we control our attitude toward what is going on around us, we can lead happy and prosperous lives. Much food for thought here, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry

You said it, Jude--"understanding all I can really control" Control lies inward, within the depths of who we are. Good write!

God should perhaps really had create the world flat, then, He could just tilted it once and get back the clean slate.
Then again, many human spirits, like yours for example, will rummage among many thoughts...why control is so slippery.

This is so strange....I read this, and then read Felix Perry's comment...there must be something in the air...because you've expressed my thoughts, too, after a sleepless night. You write and express yourself so well, Jude.
