... funny you wrote this on the day that my "little horns" were being removed! :)) Dreamweavers, storyspinners, poets... this is our stuff of life. I think we call it "poetic licence". I guess the closer we deal with the truth, as we see it, the more we have to steer it, like a kind of creative counter-tension, away from the self, in some respects. I think it was Anne Sexton who said something like: "when I talk of "I" is when I wear the mask". Hope your birthday was a real knees-up... Brit-speak for "party", by the way! :)) xx

I think this is a beautiful description of the realities of the limited human condition observing the universe through a straw. Our perceptions are only just that....our perceptions. Reality is far different. Every once in a great while, we are humbled by how much we don't know. Great pen here.

Perplexing, yet in so many way like each of us, I believe. We each have (at least) two aspects to ourselves, the one that we show to others and the one that we don't...sometimes those two aspects change position, causing those around us to feel misled, and perhaps they have been. Our private and public selves always seem to be somewhat conflicted. Excellent as always, Jude, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

This has such an old classic film quality to it (although, that could just be me as I love old films), film noir, even. I love this, a keeper.
