~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
soft emotion
hardened by impasssive winds
calls to my dreams
weathered
by skinless forms
my windswept frame inhabits
i soak up a relentless sun,
eroding the essentials of my gratuitous mortality,
erasing the my fabric of my experience
tough light
reflects onto my cold sheen of being
to the delicate voices and amiable concerns
filtering through blurry vision and ringing ears,
fractured by prismatic emotions of noise
observing the foreign landscape
i have become
proverbial colorless skies
and vacant shores
stumble through my validity,
oblivious to the horizon
like a blinded sailor inhaling twilight
sagaciously slumbering on the cargo of dreams
eternally adrift nowhere
soundly arriving before every shore
This, too, has such an hermetic feel to it, though tinged with the imagery of the sharpness of that pursuing, penetrating, unrelenting spotlight that strips away any place to hide. Sounds like a slow torture and yet within it the subject has learned the ability to lull oneself to sleep soundly within the swaddling of soft, emotionally secure dreams. Adrift and rudderless, yet there is much confidence that the Dreamscape will guide him safely ashore. For some reason, Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds Of Silence" was playing in my head as I read this; it is delicate and lyrical with a gentleness of spirit that undermines the discomfort such infliction might otherwise afford.... It seems that the universe, both seen and unseen, is so mysterious and large, as soon as we feel we know something we realize we really don't. So good to read you Jude.
I'm here with your words...ebbing and flowing like a redundant echo. East Jude...this duet is easy!
I hope you're doing well, Jude,
I have always contended that physical problems are ALWAYS an indicator of spiritual problems. Metaphorical or not .... you still see your surroundings as one that cares to interpret and share. The desire to share is tantamount to enlightenment.
Jude, i believe you have successfully come to safe harbors. Life is tough sometimes, but in the midst of a storm and the darkness, there is always a beaconing light that symbolizes home. Peace and love in Christ.
jude, this is a wonderful poem. whether or not your words have been pulled from reality or being used metaphorically, I believe this sailor is in desperate need of permanent anchoring at home...if home still exists for him. ~leslie
I am drawn to these words, and yet the ultimate meaning of the poem is not crystal clear to me..Perhaps it is not meant to be. The words stand alone in etheral beauty, and have the power to magnetise..
I liked the sea and sailor thread you captured in this one for it ist true as anyone who has every spent isolated time either at sea or in a distant place can confirm. We all tend to look in three dimensional vision at the past and the future to find a way to get through the present. Well done.
"...gratuitous mortality..." oh my friend! that times are over, when your birth didn't cost a thing and when death was ditto.
Now all is different, we have even laws to tell you when and where, and if you commit suicide you will be prosecuted with all the weight of the law.
Georg
PS. sorry, digressing again...
Jude,
I read this over and over trying to decipher what you are really trying to say. I believe that I do understand. Confusion and hope are intermingled in this poem that cries out to the Universe for guidance and illumination. You will get your dreams fulfilled, but you have to do the work. You have to want your dreams to come to fruition badly enough for it to manifest into reality...I am doing it every day.
I stood on the shore of sound view last night at sunset and it was a beautiful view of Long Island. I wonder if you were over there too?
Wouldn't that be fantastic if we were watching from distant shores together...
Much peace, light and love, my dear man,
Amber "V"
There is such a feeling of vacancy in this poem, Jude. It feels as though I have locked myself in a safe box and now I must rummage through my past dreams in an attempt to find the person I have now caused myself to become. My favorite line is
"like a blinded sailor inhaling twilight"
...sometimes we just have to find a new way...
Exceptional pen, though uncomfortable to live within, as I was reading it, which is a good thing for a writer to be able to impart. I was thirsting for an offering from you so it was really nice to be able to read this tonight.
Take care,
Sherry
This is black and white as one could get.
Images so profound still hard to cope with
Knowing what you see even before it come's in sight.
Is there such a light?
Or is this someone's insight?
Brilliant write as usual for you, Jude.
