~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i am growing into pieces
the sun rises over my heart
glistening across the horizon
to my most forbidden thoughts
ascending into the fury of heaven
born of sweat and salted vision
i have been fashioned into an enigma
i myself cannot fathom
or even digress from
so i continue to lay the groundwork
of my divided passions,
spreading apart the dreams i dare embrace
lubricated by these dreams,
i distil the labor of love
with the omnipotence of obsessive clarity
i nurture the nimbus of my thoughts
broken into beads of prismatic foresight
observed through bubbles of emotion
designed to roll upon the tides
decorating the sand
gathered and arranged by you,
tending my spirit
rising through the depths of your whims
Ecstatically correct. These whims and forbidden thoughts once tasted and savored remain indelibly in our consciousness. Thanks for the memories evoked. - Jean
guidance and driving internal motivation coexist within a matrix that is alter ego, imagination and gritty conviction to understand and move by the sheer force of our will -- yet at some point , we begin to examine the forces of guidance we cannot see, only feel and imagine -- it is then that we asses our true worth and limitations with greater meaning, accuracy, and factually -- probing, stimulating and very well posed Jude - peace and love be always with you my friend -- Jon Michael
only to the universe do the pieces make sense, not even we ourselves can completely fathom what we are.
i have been fashioned into an enigma
i myself cannot fathom
or even digress from
these lines are the crux of the poem, you cannot fathom the enigma yet you will never stop trying and that is the mark of a spiritual man.
Come on, robert, jude, me, I think you've been there, here in the desert, there by the ocean, and beyond the seas! Words-worded always-felt take on pretense and keeping. Poem me some some, please. I think you need to whim-us-all! Come on!...
"...continue to lay the groundwork of my divided passions"...yes, Jude. Whether whims' or puzzle' there's no quibble, this speaks to me and pushes me back inside myself in a good way (coming out of another cloud as I am)
Yes, again!
A previous draft of this popped up when I was first reading this morning and, I think, was linguistically more "firey"; at any rate I remember recording an "inguinal" response to it, as Sage might say! :)) It made me think of the pursuit of passion as being a double-edged sword, balancing love/lust tensions and their associated extremes of tenderness/violence. Perhaps that was just an early-morning thing: this now reads somewhat gentler, clearer - with the change of title, too. Perhaps some of the reviewers below who earlier found the energies rather "male" might now receive them rather differently!
It's probably because I was working on my Mermaid poem yesterday that I got to thinking about Jungian sexual archetypes, but to me this speaks as a kind of anima-animus write. You have written much in the past which might be deemed to be "confronting the shadow-self" (you can tell I've just been into Wiki!), but the obsessive holds you describe so majestically in this poem to me appear to go deeper, expressing innate emotion working hand-in-hand with compulsive premeditative endeavour. I have recently misread your new bi-line as being "seeking clarity through creative inTERvention" - now I know why! :)) The psychological desire to probe and fathom to the uttermost a potential alter-ego is endlessly fascinating and wholly compelling, whereas unmasking the shadow is rather more limited: only highlighting those things in ourselves which are contradictory or less dominant.
So glad that your spirit, at any rate, continues to be tended, Jude: by self and by others. This is just one of the many whims offered here for you to continue to grow through. It's good to see your star in ascendancy again. This reads like a rising spring tide and I love it. xx
Great poem Jude. Depth of meaning throughout.
I received a letter from AD telling me you'd posted a poem title "Puzzle" but I can't find it here.
Hope you're feeling better and hope to hear from you soon.
Hugs,
Marcia
I agree with Sage on this one. The passion from which this is written seems impossible for me to relate to, as a woman's passion seems to erupt from a different Chi. Certainly an interesting offering that is well composed and your point well expressed. I definitely feel a gender barrier in this, though.
Take care,
Sherry
Jude, the enigma...I would say that you got this one right...
I loved your first stanza it says it all. You must always listen to your heart and soul, my friend, whatever the conflict is that dwells inside of you, remember one thing...there is only this time at this moment to live this life.
Another amazing poem from the master of poetry!
Love this one, Jude.
Peace, light, and love,
Amber
