Ah yes life is but a twinkling of an eye & are we wise to know that in that minuscule time frame lies the difference between heaven and hell, the Creator or the pretender of desire?

I think God is an elusive trickster if we rely on others to interpret his meaning. But, as you so brilliantly elucidate, it is the moment you come into yourself where the essence of truth becomes evident. This is where we gain perspective, as we see ourselves in proper relation to the Universe. Great poem.

"Cookies made of stone," (Rock of Gibraltar) religious mortars firing away, politicians reload, there's no such thing as a friendly bullet, the New Age brethrens learning great lessons about disloyalty from past dogma...cutting buttons off the corpse of the churchman's jacket...like Gibraltar, to survive, we have to have new leadership in religion and politics and get rid of those corrupting these places of outdated conformity, control and crooked propaganda...Since the anonymous "Designer" left no explanation, life's exact meaning remains a mystery...it's what contributes to life's enduring allure, a twinkle from our lead poet surely can't hurt and it --->

... we become alive in the twinkling of an eye, yes, as we see ourselves there accurately reflected and, perhaps, truly known to us for the very first time. At such a time of rapture, revelation or epiphany, scales fall from our eyes and we behold with insight the ways of the world around us and the truth of how things are. I pray that each and everyone of us would find themselves within that liberating twinkle - the moment of true enlightenment in the eyes of the soul of self or God. It's that EUREKA! moment, and I would suggest that it's THAT that comes first, rather than coming as a result of all your aforementioned... And Spain (... flying in and out of Gibraltar, in fact!!!) seems to have made me even MORE long-winded, so thank God for a short review! :)) xx Shine on, Syd! All that goes on around us is just stuff, which if we are not careful, will have us missing out on our own life. Once we realize that the only person who will be with us for our entire lifetime is our self, is when we can really start living for no one else. The years we spend worrying if we will fit in, if we will be loved, if we can make the world a perfect place, if we can earn a decent living and if we can find happiness in someone elses dreams, are the years that we steal from ourselves. We are each unique and we truly are who we are; to attempt to be anything else is not only pure deception but also a lesson in futility. We each have strengths and weaknesses that we need to learn to accept as a part of the whole. Life is to be lived as who we are with all of our warts and bumps, and those who choose to love us, despite our failings, can find the joy of sharing time with someone who feels complete and comfortable just the way they are. Life is way to short for regrets, sieze the moment, live life to the fullest and when our time has passed, may we have left brilliant memories for those who touched our heart. This is a wonderful offering, Jude, and I hope I read it as you wrote it. If not, know that your words are subjective enough that each of us can find our shining star within them.
