~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i store words in dreams,
listening for an occasional echo of vibrancy
to flutter through my thoughts
in a spasm of creative maneuver
perhaps a passage will mull over a metaphor in flux
and entice me to breathe in deep places
perhaps a conceptual release of emotional ambiance
will enhance my abilities
perhaps a rare moment
when my mind is clear from distraction
will free me from its conclusions
releasing contours of my most hidden revelations,
arousing and rearranging desires and whims
i search for clarity of vision
especially when inundated with murky prospects
only the stars know when i am focused
even while the world is driving me away
Indeed, it happens to me a lot more these days than it did 6 years ago. Love the last two lines. Perfect end.
You're right. Sometimes it is really hard to focus on what you are writing… It is very intriguing anyway. For example, the title of this one, Cox, is entirely a mystery to me even though the poem makes great sense. ;-)
What a beautiful ode to our elusive butterflies of inspiration, Jude! :)) Such shafts of pure delight, insight and revelation do, indeed, transcend the moment, quickening our experience and response beyond the realms of intellectual cognition sometimes. Your first stanza reminds me of a very old poem of mine, Spider's Prayer, thus:
She’s attentive to the noisy strands,
the invisible wires of crackling light
that hum with sounds of static.
Meticulously she maintains the song,
pausing respectfully between
every isolated note,
storing each word in windows.
Her tuner’s ear links thought to thought,
strings melodies for meditation.
Coincidentally, I listened again to your DVD of Designing Thoughts today, which I recommend you return to having read this poem. It's fabulously uplifting. But I'm sure you're fine: "What you feel - THAT is all and your brightly-lit best".
There's some beautiful phrasing here. And I note your title with interest: one of the few that is not indicated in the body of the poem, yet can be understood as "the voice of direction"... In my experience of boats, coxes tend to be small, nimble... and mouthy! I think your focus is pretty 20/20 spot-on here: diplopia must be long gone, thank God. Korona Borealis Kate xx
with clarity of vision..beyond the stage
of searching, i suggest - you have found.
i keep linking the stanzas back to the title and see the subtle nuance here, the art of release, delicate dash of innuendo, poetic and literary seed sowing, harvest of deep thought.
The harshness of life can so often get in the way of us transfering the clear and gentle flow we find inside our dreams, into our daily routine. The words are there, but the mood does not allow them the freedom to express what we want them to say. The words stick in our throat and we are, simply, unable to utter them. Finding the balance between the way thing are and how we know that they could be is a lesson within itself; verbalizing that is even more complicated and difficult. I like this very much, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
A cosmic communication is stellar at this very moment in time. It seems as though we are on the same wavelength tonight. I am so happy to see you posting once again, I was worried about you and incredibly missed your amazing poetry!
The last stanza is very telling, You must get back to your center, your base for clarity of vision and well being.
OM meditations are so good for this, I practice saying an OM mantra as much as time allows and it really resonates within my being.
I want health and happiness for you, so please take good care of yourself and don't be away so long as this past time.
Your audience awaits the depth of your powerful words. (keep dreaming those words and bring your visions to fruision)
Know that you are missed and loved by all here on the den.
Much peace, light and love,
Namaste, Amber
Words expect so much from us and we expect something in return, for all the weaving and transforming that we accomplish. "That clarity of vision" is also at the core of my search. Thank you.
It's such a pleasure being in the great company of word artists like yourself, Jude...your subtle energy outflows through a stellar connection that calls you back to us, if you will your "delta state" with predominant brainwaves that are in deep state of meditation. Cox navigates your blueprint perception and environment. The lead poet with the ability to sustain focused attention brings us back a conch shell from his absence, (cosmic music held to our ears) finally a familar sound, a guidepost for your long journey back "home"...Pythagoras "souljourn" welcome back my friend.
