countless nerves
pulsate and dance
channeling thoughts
and impulses throughout
the core of being

preoccupied with protecting
and processing
attacking and transmitting
controlled by receptors
and chemical stuff

sometimes, the source organs
become confused
and befuddled
attacking the origin of their design

transformed into cannibals
devouring their own
the disease of their essence
very hungry

Like many of your writes, Jude; this one is worthy of much more than a single reading because it opens many doors to various interpretations. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

I have read this on and off a few times. Each time I feel something different. Like so many have said, you can infer many meanings beneath this multi layered poem.
I feel sad that I have not been there for you, somehow I should have sent more healing energy to you and your family.
I absorb and respond to this deeply moving poem, know that I am here if you need healing energy, just breath and feel the white light.
To a well written and thought provoking poem, my dear friend...

Much peace, light and love,
Amber

Just like Tcells that hunt down their prey attacking the source of their design.

Such an enigmatic write. One can construe all manner of meaning and they'd be correct. Every chemical element on this wee planet has come from the death of a star. Paradoxically, their final gift will be our death knell

Cancer of the body, or cancer of the soul, both destructive to life. You always make me think Jude.

Reminds me of that old saying about One being one's own worst enemy. Thought-provoking, Jude.

Yes, like when we're trapped underneath unfelt anger, grief, all of the layers of repressed expression.
Awesome write Jude!

Nerve gas? Phosphorus-containing organic chemicals (organophosphates) that disrupt the mechanism by which nerves transfer messages to organs. Very profound write Jude! Really got me thinking... Take care, and god bless you always! ~Chessly

Masterful write... As a cancer survivor, this hits home but I can see there are many ways to look at this. Could be cancer, virus or illness but as Richard said, it could be an emotional issue such as a lack of inspiration or worse yet... envy.

Admirable hugs~

great piece man! i totally relate, words delivered with scalpel-like precision. for whatever it's worth, i've noticed there are people here who kind of come and go and those who stick around through thick and thin, always pushing, always testing, prize-fighter mentalities. you've been around a long time (much longer than i)and yet always remain relevant and deliver quality piece after quality piece. so i believe your commitment to excellence and fortitude are an inspiration in and of themselves. they are to me at least.

Bob, This gives the rest of us strength, I think...when you write, I may not always get the real meaning but can still appreciate the subject matter & some of the deep thoughts that have gone into making everything you do write...Ed

Like a paracitic cancer, we consume and destroy all the good that we create by over-thinking that which should be understood to be simple and pure. We refuse to learn and live within absolute acceptance which would be the only saving grace for mankind. Like Jerry said, each time I read this, it takes on a new depth and meaning. Very nice pen, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry

i see disease within this expression, as cells infect and attack their hosts, and also probably how earth sees humanity. you give the reader something to digest, ponder and reflect within themselves in this one.

For some reason I am seeing the nuclear plants in Japan as I read this interesting poem. I can stand back, reread it, and make myself form another opinion of the subject matter, but deep within I am still seeing the nuclear plants in Japan.
