~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it is a usual afternoon
the workers eat lunch
watching each other eating lunches
the children play in schoolyards
their teachers counting down the minutes
the bombers keep bombing
either the infidels or each other
the dreamers take a snooze under shady trees
dreaming nightmares of sunny days
the stock market rises then falls
forming a wave of panicky jellyfish
their long greedy tentacles
whirling into the potential profits of everything
the politicians and leaders
regulate their ruling heads
up each other’s asses
i sit by the bay
smoking a cigar
writing letters
staring into quantum ripples
and then with a good heart
and clear intentions
i recognize
all seasoned ships
exploring new horizons
are really tethered up to the growing sky
as they tow it
...and when all is said and done, it really was only a dream of a movie, anyway. Surfing on the quantum ripples of time (or the lack of it's existance at all)is really what our imaginings were meant to do. Pure poetic excellence, Jude. Kudos!
Take care,
with a good heart and clear intentions one can ride out all the quantum ripples in the universe, jude.
if i make it to +80, i have threatened to return to: smoking (but this time, cigars), steady drinking (whiskey or gin, can't decide), ogle the sweet asses of young boys who have the misfortune of passing within eyesight of my rocking chair... talk about atmospheric quantum ripples! ;-)
peace & blessings,
carolyn
So nonchalantly written ,but you pack it full of your usual wisdom with such great metaphor "all being tethered up to the sky" etc. Your mind never loses its unique abilities, Jude!Splendid!
Surviving in a society that groans and writhes, as it tumesces financially and then shrivels (seemingly) at will, like some kind of an ill-conceived creature, is a challenging process. This last financial hiccup was sobering. A lot of money vanished. I fear there are many more convolutions in the near future coming to rake us across the coral. Have you watched/listened (on the inter-net) www.newamerica5.com ... really freaking sobering. Hard to believe something like that may happen in the United States. Enjoyed this ... richard
the forces of malevolence and greed stir the simmering pot of humankind with orchestrated sociopolitical spoons -- where strife and conflict flourish their designs for control are the sparks that have ignited the fire storms of human suffering and grief -- race, ethnicity, politics, borders and every form of devious minutia they employ to create havoc and wrest away humanities power and wealth for their greed -- where is my cigar of escape from this never ending madness? -- jude, you've aroused the psyche of this knight who would contend for justice for all men -- I often sit back in wonder and ponder when the whole will at last rise to right and dismiss the few who create global grief -- then I just paint my own sky of cloudless blue, with cheerful folk cavorting about in a harmonious wave -- I bid you love and peace my dear friend -- Jon Michael
Funny how your relaxed-sounding tone makes the reality of the "same old" seem like fairytale and the "fairytale" ending seem like concrete reality: love that that's when the "clear intentions and good heart" kicks in! Meditating, writing, smoking are all mind-altering activities and what I particularly like about this is your premise: yes, those scanning the "new horizons" ARE indeed all tethered up to the same distant skylines and drawing the new heavens down, causing the new world to expand. And there is nothing new under the heavens - except what these intrepid tugboats are ushering in next. And it's not so far from here to there or there to here: my vision is your vision is the songwriter's or artist's vision. The theme may be the same but the interpretation of it different according to personal skills and perspectives. We each of us have our own tow-line to get the job done! :)) As always you lend your hand to the plough, Kartero, even when you're playing the Otis Redding. And it seems that Amber's over here with me right now: the "original" Lyme is about an hour's drive west along the Dorset coast - QED!! Lovin it when you're feeling chatty, Amigo; dry spell over! xx
Sit back and light up. You've certainly done a days work with this one. Well conceived. "...the dreamers take a snooze under shady trees - - - dreaming nightmares of sunny days..." So much said in such a simple line.
Thanks Dick
I read this twice once early this morning and again just now and like the little defiance from your usual style...it is still strong and intense but with gives a message without doom and gloom that some may preach.
Hey Jude,
There is a profond calmness and deep wisdom felt in this poem. Imagery is quite effective. I can almost smell the aroma of that cigar. Sounds kinda sexy lol....
Have a beautiful day, the rain finally stopped and the sun is out. At Old Lyme beach this week.
Wishing you much peace, light, and love,
Amber
